Download priority

Postby oferlaor » Tue Aug 28, 2012 4:15 pm

I changed download priority (e.g, moved a download set to top)

It rearranges the download list correctly.

but it continues to download using the original order...

Am I doing something wrong?

I believe this is fixed in the 6.40RC. It was a subtle problem where one method of movement changed the display position but, not the actual download order.

I don't know then. There was a bug, it's fixed. Maybe you've found something new. If you can quantify how you make it fail, I can try it.

Understand that autopar processing like repair and unrar isn't impacted by file order.

I am not sure. There used to be a priority number column that you coukd sort by. I might have sorted by another coulmn before.

None of the items seemed like they were near autopar stage when i changed the order.

Newsbin has never had a priority column so you must be thinking of some other application. The only Newsbin column I can possible see of being relevant is sorting by date to ensure you get oldest (or perhaps newest) posts first.

Not really sure, it might have been something else.

But, silly question. Why not add a priority column ?

Why do you need the complexity of a priority column when the download order is exactly what it looks like right now? Do you really want downloads to be happening 1/2 way down the download list where it might be off screen and completely invisible to you?

not really. If the order is exactly as shown, then it's fine. The main issue I am dealing with is exactly that - items half way down, but still higher priority than those at the top...

You know you can select posts and reorder them, right? There are icons at the top of the download queue that let you move selected items up, down or all the way to the top or bottom.

obviously... I'm not a novice.

However, I had a few instances where I moved up something but the item that was on top did not start downloading. Instead, the one that I just de-prioritized, kept on going...

I'll bet that hasn't happened with 6.40.

to be honest, I'm not sure. I haven't had a chance to re-prioritize. It could have been resolved.
