download to folder named for group

Postby andy » Fri Aug 24, 2012 4:17 am

this is my normal mode, but after latest update it is gone, i always downloaded images from a group into a sub-folder named for that group. can't find gui command; now i'm getting 40 image groups dribbled (or maybe spewed?— that's 250,000 images/week) into a single folder.

Maybe it's my fault. I'll look for aliens under the waterbed as soon as it drains ... how do i set it to "download to folder named for group" — why is that search getting me a zero in the search function in help??? It's pretty straightforward english, if not an exact command that seems to have gone AWOL.

My 256bit Amiga is almost debugged.

The way that you specify where downloads should be placed has changed (and become more flexible). You need to go into the Newsbin settings, and press the Edit button alongside the download path. You can now add variables to be added to the path and expanded at runtime - it sounds as if you want the ${GROUP} one to add the group name.

In options, the first page, you'll see 3 paths you can set.

- Main download folder

- Unrar folder

- NZB Download folder.

The second 2 are optional.

Next to each folder is an "Edit" button.

I just right click on the group - click on ''properties'' on the drop down menu which gives you a a ''download to'' path you can type in and put them anywhere you want on your PC.

Saves trying to translate all the gobbledegook for us non-programmers. :D

Q:\Giganews\Images$(DATE)\$(GROUP)\

I set this into a supergroup of 17 newsgroups as suggested. This is copied from the "Main Download Folder" but as before all the images are spewing into the supergroup name folder.

I Got it working, thanks. Since I monitor far too many groups to set the properties individually, but highlighting many common groups and setting the properties (exactly like previous versions) EXCEPT for the ultra-cool ability to set them all to ...
Q:\Giganews\— Images\$(DATE)\$(GROUP)\
and squirting them all into group-named files under a date. That is way cool.
I will promptly praise everyone to the little green men under the waterbed and take two pins out of your dolly! Good work & thanks to everyone for the explanations.
