6.40 Beta 7 Local Search returns unrelated hits, or nothing

When using the local search on 6.40B7 (an expression such as "words.with.dots", no quotes), the hits returned do not match the search criteria. It appears to simply be returning everything. When I stop the search and try something else (a simpler expression such as "word"), sometimes it will return nothing at all.

It's working fine in B8 so, either I fixed it already or there's some other factor. The problem in one of the prior beta's was that it would match everything with no filter action. Basically it returned everything.

If you local search and use actual dots

"this.is.a.test"

for example, because it's regular expressions the "." means match any character. So, it'll match spaces or dashes or any single character. It'll only match on character though.

I'm not actually convinced there's a problem in B7. Are you searching in specific groups?

I'm picking "All Groups". The search hits definitely do not match the regex I'm typing.

Seems even the Internet search is returning unrelated hits.

Is there an index I can flush and rebuild, other than re-downloading all the headers again? (that wouldn't explain the internet search)

Maybe I need to reset my configuration. Any easy way to do that?

Edit: Also, the behavior is different if I pick from recently used searches from the drop down box, or type them from scratch. When I type them, it seems it works as intended. When I pick from the drop-down box, it gives me all headers, unfiltered.

Edit 2: As long as I don't click on the magnifying glass icon, it seems to return proper searches. If I click the icon or even hit Enter (as opposed to just type and wait), then it starts returning junk. Sometimes I have to type it a second time because the first time returns all (random?) headers.

Edit 3: It seems the problem only happens in the Search tab, not the individual groups tabs.

RC1 seems to clear up these issues, and manages the RAM much better too!

Works quite nicely now!
