How to download into folders named after NZB files?

Postby goudron » Sun Aug 05, 2012 8:21 pm

Version 5.59 that I last used sorted downloaded files by folders named after their respective NZB names. Now I have installed the version 6, and all downloads go into the main download directory, not subdirectories as before. Is there a way to enable the old behavior?

I have read the following post already, but could implement nothing of it. The advice was to add /$(NZBFILE)/ to the download path, but my version of the program displays a "Browse for folder" box where I cannot modify the path.

viewtopic.php?f=43&t=30572&hilit=nzb+folders

I am a very non-technical person, please bear with me.

Use Browse to get to the folder location where you want them to download, then accept that. Then, use the Edit button to add the variables.

You need to use the edit button to the left of the browse button to add it.

Thank you for the response. I cannot find the Edit button. I am looking at the Options/Options... dialog. In this dialog, on the left I select the Setup page. In the right portion of the dialog, on the top, there is a box that reads "Basic settings" and some explanatory text. Directly under it, horizontally, there is text "Download folder", then to the right of it a read-only gray field that shows the download path, and then a "Browse" button. Like this:

Download folder [C:\Download                     ] [Browse]

There is no Edit button anywhere around. Where should I look for it?

I solved my problem. For the record, in the Options dialog, NZB page (4th from the top), there are 4 option checkboxes at the top of the panel. The one I needed was "Add NZB filename to download folder," which was unchecked by default.

Thanks everybody for your time!

OK, OK.....someone please help me. I mistakenly upgraded to the current beta.....RC2 I believe it is. I am having the same issues as the above poster, except I cannot resolve my issue. Obviously, everything just d/l's into the chose folder....all in one big pile of crap. I cannot figure out for the life of me, what meta-symbols or whatever they're called, are necessary to pick the old default ....d/l to a folder of the same name as the nzb file. Silly me, I thought it would be $NZBFILE, but of course.....it still dumps all files to the the default d/l directory. Is there a way to back up to the old way so I do not have to do all of the work by hand? Thanks for any pointers.

Using $(NZBFILE) definitely works (with the brackets as part of the syntax). The syntax should automatically be correct if you set it up from the selections available via the Edit button against the Download path setting.

Note that after making a change to the Download path setting it only applies to new items you queue, not to items already in the queue.

Thanks.....the "already in the queue" part got me.
