Explain to me how you're downloading and I can look into it. Where are the junk folder names coming from?

Hi,

I simply open .nzb files from a webpage.

ex. if I download yyyxxxzzz

I will have a folder named C:yyyxxxzzz in my download folder
And after its unrared to X:yyyxxxzzz the C:yyyxxxzzz will still be there , sometimes its empty folder other times with some "junk" files, but mostly its empty and should be auto deleted :)

Soo my C: will fill up with lots of empty directories and some directories with some small "junk" files I don't need.

Abit hard to explain for me, hope you get it :)

some of my settings:

Under Newsbin Options:

Under Filenames modification
Checked: Folder Mode

under NZB Files
Checked: Filename to download folder
Checked: Clean NZB Patch. Remove...

under AutoPAR Options:

Checked: Automatically UnRAR Completed Files
Checked: Delete RARs and PARS on ...
Checked: Aggressive Assembly.. (hade this problem before this option was added)

Override UnRAR Path with path to my X: drive
Checked: Add a path prefix - UnRAR to a folder named for the source folder

If they're empty I can probably clean them up. The problem is knowing when it's ok to delete if they're not empty. Not everyone uses subfolders.

I'll have to think about it. It might only work if they're empty.

That works, sometimes. What happens if you manually download to some other folder that's not under the normal download path? Say you decide to download a game patch to C:\Games\

Then bad things would happen.

what if you create random foldernames (centos6.4_56745345) for .nzb's then you can delete just that folder with everything included after a good unrar.

Newsbin 6.40B3 tries to delete the source folder when it unrars to a different folder. It doesn't try really hard. The folder has to be empty which means files like "descript.ion" or SFV's left in the folder will prevent the cleanup. For my downloads it, cleans most things.

I get like a few Gig of small or bigger left over files and catalogs of every single download.

Why can't we have a function that simply remove the temporary download folder and its files after the operation is done without errors?

The real question is why you have all these leftovers when I don't? The only time I get temp unrar folders left over is if something went wrong with the unrar. Otherwise I don't see them.

I only use the latest version though. Gigs of what get left over? Gigs of rar files?

after a few month I have like 1gig of small files like .nfo and others and a catalog for every download.

Its like leaving the biggest trace of mankind (download) on my hard drive :)

Can it be the filters that i have enable that create the left overs? (using standard filters for movies)

Yeah, you can filter it out.

You can filter before download with subject filters;
You can filter during download with filename filters
and you can filter after unrar with the post unrar filters.

I don't bother, I move the files I care about and just wipe the download folder clean.

But that is not how I use Newsbin.

Can we please just make an option that delete the temporary download folder after finish unpacking?

After the new pathing options the Junk problem is even worse! It's filling my main download folder with soo much sample files. .nfo's and soo on.

Dowloaded around 10 files and got 500mb junk!!!, stuff that I have filter out is still there and other files i dont need !

Why not just maker the program a bit smarter and delete everything related to the .nzb download in the main download folder after a good unrar, if user selected an Unrar folder.
We don't want to look at two different places for files!!! Two different places to clean up, or have a loooong history of download files folders just leaving huge traces of everything we do.

Sorrry but Iam kinda starting to hate all junk and extra work i have todo when i use newsbinpro!

Not really sure what to tell you. If you're downloading all these files. I'm not clear how Newsbin is supposed to know to delete them. Might be better not to download them in the first place.

How about using the NZB Loading filter to filter out the files you don't want?

I only use .nzb files and they sometimes download a selection of files. Not only the .rar files.

And if I then select auto unrar, then Iam only intrested in the unrared files not the other files outside the .rar

Why not clean up after an unrar to an external place on hard drive, is there any point not to clean up after an unrar?
Works for sabNZBd, why can't newsbin pro do it?

Quade I think I use newsbinpro totally different then you and that's why you don't see the problem. :(

The NZB Loader filter lets you filter all that crap out of the NZB files. Add it to the subject filters and they won't even be downloaded.

Go into the filter window, add new filter. I called mine "NZB Filter". Then select it and in the "Subject Reject" add all the file extensions you don't want out of the NZB files

[.]SFV
[.]NFO
[.]SRR
[.]NZB
Sample

Then in the NZB options, you just pick this filter and these files will be filtered out before they even download. If you use the autoload folders, you can add the filter in the options for the autoload folders.

Why not just add an option to delete everything after unrar?
Everything is included in the unrar and only junk files are added in the .nzb files that people not interested of.

There is no point to keep the junk and force users to clean up after an unrar.

Adding everything I don't need is a backward way of doing things. (Adding things I don't want unpacked is one thing but this is not the problem here)

What you're asking for is too dangerous. Works for you but, won't work for anyone. I'm just imagining people wiping their download folders with this checkbox.

not sure why a combination of the NZB Load filter to stop files being queued and the Post UnRar Delete filter to delete extra files cannot be used to achieve the desired effect. Seems to work fine for me.

But if people have selected an unrar folder why would they need the the download folder? Everything you need have been unrared, why not just clean ? sabnzbd dose this without any problems.

I still get left over files in my main download folder.

When did any .rar have important files out side the .rar?

Why force people to setup filters when its not needed.

After the new pathing system it's like 50% worse with left over files.

This program is turning into configuration hell to get it to work into a smart way, why not just handle things with some A.I.
This program need more "i" iNewsbinpro.
