Files incorrectly named w/6.40

Postby Biship » Sun Jun 17, 2012 4:15 pm

I wanted to see if this was a giganews or newsbin issue, so I downloaded MIMO to check, which downloads, but won't repair and assemble (but I could manually).
Using Newsbin 6.40B3 (and I think this occurred in B1 & B2).
Getting this on almost everything I attempt to DL:

[14:56:05] HIGH - Par2Repair - Multi-core 1.2
[14:56:05] HIGH - Aggressive Assembly mode: Enabled
[14:56:05] HIGH - PAR Pausing: Enabled
[14:56:12] HIGH Download Engine giganews - INT_OpenItem -DL_DI - Failed to retrieve Article from Server::giganews
[14:56:45] HIGH Download Engine giganews - INT_OpenItem -DL_DI - Failed to retrieve Article from Server::giganews
etc...

Newsbin downloads all the files, and they look complete, but are all .nb2 files.
ie:

I can manually run quickpar, and repair if I rename all files, including the par files, removing the
Why is newsbin saving the filenames wrong?

edit: and it doesnt look like its saving to folders based on group name anymore.

First off, there's a no-specifics policy on the forum - basically no details about exactly what you're downloading. If you wanted to pass on a specific post that you think is relevant, try PMing it to Quade, but as you say, this is happening with everything. Before they wiped this information, I did download this post from Astra and it extracted fine, however. All I'm reading there is material that's not on Giga, so it's hard to say. What may be happening is you're not waiting long enough - either it's waiting to see if there's more data to be uploaded to the server, or there's been a DMCA takedown and you're out of luck. nb2 files are just the form Newsbin downloads the chunks in - once complete it renames it to whatever it should be.

Files aren't completely downloading. Probably because parts of the files have been removed because of the DMCA. The "can't find filename" message is another indication of this. That's why they stay NB2 too. If you right click the set of files and "assemble incompletes". The NB2's will probably be turned into the right filename.

Is there a way to allow newsbin to perform the assemble incomplete without me having to do it manually?

6.34 does it after the Nth retry (depends on what you have retries set to).

It's looks to see if it's got at least 90% of the data it needs to actually repair the files and if it does, it assembles what it has and attempts repair.

This assumes autopar is enabled. If it's disabled, it's a manual process.

I have retires set to 2, and autopar is not disabled. The files are definitely (manually) repairable. Can 6.40 not do this? or should I revert back to 6.34?
Thanks!

My 6.40 assembles. Maybe you're not waiting long enough.

It might be a couple minutes before it assembles on it's own.
