Cant download headers in Newbin 6.3

Hi,

for the last two days I have been unable to download new headers in Newsbin.

I normally just click on a group and can the get a list of the new posts. But no longer.

I get this error message:
ERROR NNTPSocket - NNTP Perform Auth - news.usenetserver.com-Password: Failed to Read response from server during Username Negotiation:Socket - Read or Write Timeout

Is the problem with Newsbin, Usenetserver or something else?

The first thing I'd check is any anti virus, when they patch(frequently) they can suddenly find a previously ok'ed program a problem and interfere with it. Try completely disabling it.

1 - I'd cut connections down to say 2 for trouble-shooting. Maybe even 1.

2 - I'd check to see if they support alternate ports. Like 80 or 23. Then I'd try alternate ports. Restarting Newsbin with each change.

It's odd that it dies when it tries to send the username and password. That suggests a server issue. It's like the connection is made but, then the server stalls out when Newsbin sends them the username and password. In the network options, click "Show server commands" then try some connections and maybe post the log message here.

Select the items in the logging tab hit Ctrl-C then select your reply topic and hit Ctrl-V to paste them.
