All posts coming up as Filtered

Postby temanbaik » Thu May 17, 2012 12:11 am

Newsbin v6.32 has been labelling all the new incoming posts as "filtered" ( with the red icon ) such that in order for me to see anything headers at all, I have to toggle OFF the Filter button. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Newsbin but it still comes up the same. At the moment, only posts about a month old will show up during filtering.

I have cleared Filter history and I have not added any new filters to the installation. Can anyone help with this? Thanks!

I have been aware of it as well. Is it not normal?

I did not have this problem up till a few days ago. Now it is no longer possible for me to use the filter to see new posts which makes it troublesome to view newsgroups with large post counts.

You've got something wrong in your global filter. You'll probably find something odd in there that's capturing mostly everything, any rejections in global are applied by default. If you can't find anything at all, then I suppose it's possible your filters db filter has become corrupt, it might need recreating.

It should say why it's filtered in the status column. That's the first thing I'd look at.

You can also: Click "Open Data Folder" in the options. Exit Newsbin. Move the filters.db3 out of the data folder or rename it. Then start Newsbin and try again.

Do you have "automark old" enabled? This makes Newsbin mark posts old after you load the list.

Removing the filter.db3 file didnt help me with my problem. The status of these post shows "Poster Lockout" but using Ctrl-U or the "unlock poster" option does not change this status.

I am running across a similar thing. I had "Lockout Poster Keyword". Than determined the keyword was too broad and tried to "Unlock Poster". No go. How do I clear the Lockout list????

You ought to be able to do it from the options menu. What version are you using?

Thank you Quade. I didn't see any delete button there and didn't get a context command on right click. So I had assumed I can't delete. A simple Delete button on my keyboard works. Gotta stop trying to set up software at midnight.
