Date and time of unpacked files not kept

Postby Psiho_Delija » Sun Dec 18, 2011 5:24 am

As the title says, the date and time of unpacked files in not being kept.

Could you please add a feature to keep the archived time and date to AutoPAR.

File explorer can show you two pieces of information about a file: Date Created and Date Modified. It's just defaulting to Modified. Newsbin keeps the Date Created information in any extracted files, so you probably just need to display that information in explorer.

[EDIT] Hmm, I think. Just did a few tests with some random downloads and date created seemed to be the same as modified.

Pretty sure this is on purpose. Most people were unhappy about the files having old timestamps.

The codes in there to make it set or not set the old timestamp. I'd just have to add an option for it. Currently the default is to make the timestamp the current timestamp.

Wrote myself a note to make it an option.

[EDIT] Hmm, I think. Just did a few tests with some random downloads and date created seemed to be the same as modified.

Yeah, people were bitching so I made the change. I did make it optional but, didn't add an option for it. No point until someone complains.

So, any chance of adding it as an option?

Is this option going to appear in the 6.30 betas?

It's on my todo list. Just a matter of getting to it.

Yes, option please Image link not allowed for unregistered users I can see how some would prefer download date but for me, I prefer original date (that way I can tell when a file was actually released/created). At the moment I am extracting them manually Image link not allowed for unregistered users

Is there some reason sfv/nfo aren't included in the grouped sets? They are usually part of the PAR2 set.

Many people consider them trash files (like me), I don't include them. I've toyed with the idea of compacting them with the files. It would require that there be some other mechanism to both show that they exist and to read them. Not impossible but, not high on the list either.

[AUTORAR]
KeepFilestamp=?

Setting that to 1 or 0 changes how the unrar timestamp is set. The default is 0. If you want to change how the timestamps are set. You just need to add this to the NBI file while Newsbin isn't running.
