Another issue, no auto unrar this time

Postby essexboy » Tue Apr 24, 2012 8:47 am

Ok since updating to v6.31 build:1877, its seems to have fixed my autopar problems, but now auto unrar doesn't work. 'auto unrar' is also ckecked in options. Any ideas?

It might just be worth changing the setting, pressing OK to accept the change, and then going in to change it back. This can fix any disconnects between the GUI and the stored settings.

Failing that, I would be tempted to try deleting the autopar2.db3 file from the Newsbin DATA folder (when Newsbin is not running) in case it has gotten corrupted in any way.

Yeah. If you watch the logging tab and turn the logging level to "Debug" in the advanced options, you might see a reason.

EDIT: Jumped the gun there, didn't change logging to debug, will see what it says, cheers guys.

That appears to be reporting that that the Auto Unrar has been disabled under Options->Autopar options.

Definitely try renaming/deleting the autopar2.db3 file and see if that helps. What OS are you running? 32 bit?

Wondering if something is up with a dll file. You don't get any related messages when you first start Newsbin, right? Have you tried a reinstall(meaning, just reinstall it again, as opposed to cleaning things out)?

Starts ok, loads files ok, does take a long time counting files already downloaded, but no errors at start. Auto repairs ok too. I will try a complete uninstall and reinstall when all downloads are cleared, not too much of a problem as I can still unrar manually. Just thought someone should be informed in case I'm not the only one.

Another shot-in-the-dark is to look at your nbi config file, look for

Code: Select all
"DisableAutoRAR=0"

once, and only once. Maybe it got pooched in a strange way.

Suggests it's the wrong NBI file.

Clearly Newsbin thinks unrar is disabled. You know you can disable it in the group options too?

If you exit, check and it's still blank, it's probably using a different NBI. "File/Save As" in Newsbin will show you where it's located.

I didn't know you could disable it in groups, is this by default as the groups that were affected are disabled, I've since unticked the boxes in groups, see what happens now.

The actual nbi is in documents??

The default is disabled so, at some point that option got clicked.
