Extract ISO-file

Up front:
Very sorry if the below has been asked before here.
Vainly tried to find earlier threads here and in the feature requests.

After NB unpacked the .rar files often it results into an ISO file.
This I manually extract to a folder named after the ISO file.

I wonder whether it would be possible to have this included into NB (as an option)...

I.e. NB should then, after the unrar job, 'detect' an ISO and then extract that file.

Something like
[X] Extract to unique folder named after the source file
[_] Delete source file on a successful Extract

I am not sure that Newsbin would know how to extract the contents of an Iso file!

Also I am surprised you even want to extract the contents - if I download an iso I would normally want it to be kept as an ISO.

If it can't be done, we should forget about it.
If the option would exist though, I would leave the "Delete-option" untagged as well.
So I have both the iso and extracted files and in the end decide what to do with the iso.
Personally I extract all the iso-files and in 9 out of 10 delete the iso.
It's a personal preference, tfore the extract iso file (or other similar container filet types)
would only show up as an option.
But again, if this is too complicated, or too much of a workload, well, we should forget it...

I think it's less about how hard it would be, and more about desirability. Unlike rars and zips, iso files are more like msi files:sure it's a container, but it's not intended for efficient transportation of data(which is why it's in a rar file), but has a specific and well established use in that form. I know why you're probably doing this(I'm guessing you have a gaming console), but really, this should be part of the prepping that you're doing for the target device, not extraction from a Usenet post. IMHO.

It is a 'nice to have', I admit...

Another example is \VIDEO_TS -folder and files packed in ISO. Usually one needs to open the video_ts folder in a video player to be able to play them.

Correct me if I am wrong, but if my memory serves me well, a couple of years ago (maybe way back before 2008? and before version 5.4 or so...? I don't know for sure) we had to unrar the downloaded files manually and then NB took over.
Meaning to say that unrar-ing files also isn't really something that necessarily shd be done by NB, but we've kind of get used to it and wouldn't like to return to the old days. This iso-extracting thing was just a wild idea to further expand that feature. if one is downloading overnight, it would be nice when all the files were unpacked, incl. the iso's, it saves time.
But... then again I agree: there is nothing wrong to handle those files manually.

Yeah, I'm not saying never but, like D says most people want ISO's to remain ISO's. I'm pretty sure many PC playback tools can play the ISO's directly.

Sorry for getting back on this so late.

Again, extracting would only be an option (not default).
In my case, when I have downloaded a few .iso's overnight, it would be nice to find them being extracted already
when checking out NB in the morning.

Anyway, it was/is a suggestion only...
