News Group not displaying new headers

Starting the 15th of Apr. Newsbin Ver. 631 Build 1877 has stopped displaying new headers
only in newsgroup a.b.hdtv.x264. I use the same filter in several other groups and have
checked every setting I can think of.

I see the progress bar displaying the fact that new headers are being downloaded for the
group but no headers display dated after the 15th of this month.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

What server are you using? Was a report of something like this the other day and the problem was that the server was broken, couldn't go over 4 billion record count.

Thanks for the reply. Am using usenetsever. The size of the data file for the group is 8.3gig.

Yeah, might have been usenetserver. In the network options, select "Show server Commands" then "Download Latest" on the group and look for a line like this.

211 - Ok
1732371438 - Number of records
100185196 - first record
1832556633 - last record
alt.binaries.hdtv.x264 - group name.


If last record is > 4 billion then the problem is probably what I described. I just checked Giganews and there are records right up to a couple minutes ago.

From what I can see the headers are on usenetserver, and that's what tech support told me.
If I am reading the above correctly the headers are at the 1.8 gig level.

Uninstall the group and reload headers?

Are you sure you don't have any filters set? What's the "Storage Age" set to? Is your PC's date correct?

You could try a free trial at XSUsenet and see if you can pull headers from them. I'm not 100% convinced it's not a server problem yet.

No filters set, even global is unchecked. Storage age 700 and computer date and time is correct.

I tried the free server, same - same. I see it downloading headers but they are not displayed.

Unless you can come up with another idea I believe I will purge the group and download headers and see what happens.

really strange that only one group is behaving this way.

My thanks for the help.

Problem fixed but not solved. I deleted the news group, then added it
again and downloaded 5,000,000 headers. Am showing up to date now,
nothing lost except a little hair. <g>
