Failed - Spam Contains EXE (really?)

Postby geek2 » Fri Apr 13, 2012 10:33 pm

How accurate is this filter to stop a download of a program file? Most program files () contain EXE files... does this filter automatically stop the download if an RAR contains an EXE or does it actually check the EXE to see if it appears to be a Trojan?

Seems like more and more malware is on Usenet... want to be safe, but at same time want to access program files.

It's a blanket "if it's an EXE block it" filter. It stops any EXE it detects.

Thanks for reply. I will disable filter when downloading program files but have it enabled when downloading movies, etc.

If you select the file you want to download and hit "Ctrl-Y" it'll bypass all filters so, you can leave it on if you want.
