Version 6.31 Release Candidate 3 Available...

Postby dexter » Thu Mar 15, 2012 10:35 pm

Made changes to better handle par2 files posted separately from the files they represent. Default behavior is to download all the PAR2 files and then sit and wait for the other files to be downloaded. The par2 files will be deleted once all the other files represented by the par2's are successfully downloaded.

If you want to revert to the previous behavior of pausing standalone par2 files in the download list, you can set that in the .nbi files. Details are in the text release notes distributed with the release.

The download link is on the Newsbin Beta Page.

It should also get rid of most of the retry messages people complained about. Variety of autopar tweeks to make it download pars more aggressively too.

Glad the pausing par2 files option is still there but i have a question, do i have to make a new [AUTOPAR] section
in the nbi or should i add the DownloadParOnly=0 in the [AUTORAR] section?
I ask this because the rar section has par subjects in it as well.

DownloadParOnly=0 under the [AUTOPAR] section in the .nbi file.

You're correct, it's supposed to be "AUTORAR" not "AUTOPAR"

I'll fix my post. You don't have to add the section.

For people who don't worry about bandwidth, can you add option to download all PARs all the time w/o the pass/fail check? Right now I'm expanding each post and then clicking on resume. On occasion, I have incomplete files that NB gets stuck on but if I use quickpar, it will fix them. Also after downloading, assembling incomplete RARs, attempt PAR repair, if fail- download all pars, assembling incomplete PARs, and finally par repair fails, I would like NB to automatically fail the the whole post. This may already be taking place, but not sure.

In the status bar when transfer speed is high

ie.

120.0Mbps/14.0MBps

The MBps gets truncated to MBp by the 'Downloaded count' field
May be worth allowing the field to grow to fit the content?

Similar may occur with the first of the two space available figures when you get above 1000GB depending on where it switches to TB

Thanks,

I don't think you can do "grow to fit" in the status bar. You assign a size when Newsbin starts. Might simply have to expand the field a bit. Do you use larger than standard fonts?

Standard fonts in WIn 7. Its probably due to the wider characters. It probably only needs another 2 characters space, which should allow for higher speeds, well until we get to Gb. The alternative, if its easier is truncate the decimal places, as the difference between at 100 Mb and 100.04 is not worth thinking about

Have to say though every tweak that is being done is producing a nicely rounded program

Hi Guys,
I think there is an issue with the speed limiter. When activated the speed only reaches a quarter of the value in the settings.
It's not an issue with my bandwidth, if i disable the speed limiter, the download is much faster.
