Report from the B5 Trenches

So far the changes you made to the B5 Autopar seem to be working well. With Autopar turned off, I'm not getting downloaded posts re-added to the download list like in B3, the pars are going to the Wish List like I want, and the download stats are being updated.

Would it be possible to have the "Send Pars to Wish List" switch enabled when Autopar is turned on? In other words, it would send the pars to the Wish List (for people who want that), but would go ahead and assemble the file if it is complete without needing any pars. If it did need pars, we would manually add them ourselves from the Wish List.

I don't see any point to this. If you're going to download the pars anyway, why not just let it download what it needs to do the repair/unrar itself?

Because no matter how well you code Newsbin, you can't anticipate everything.

There are posters who mess up when they post, and include the pars as required files, so they get downloaded when they aren't needed. There are posts that are missing so many parts that they are not worth repairing, and it's a good bet that the pars themselves are missing parts, too, so I would rather delete the posts than download the pars for them. And sometimes it's just a matter of I am up against my bandwidth limit, and want to defer downloading pars till later. Or maybe I'm running something that's CPU intensive, and I don't mind Newsbin using 5% of the CPU to download files, but I don't want it to use 50% to fix a 20GB blue-ray file.

Just trust me, there are legitimate reasons to want to do it manually. Or even if you don't think they are legitimate, at least it will get me out of your hair.
