Fill server not being honored

Postby Questar_99 » Sun Feb 05, 2012 12:42 pm

Hi guys,

Just did the upgrade from 5 to 6 this morning.

I have Blocknews configured as a fill server, but whenever I enable it, it starts downloading as if it's a regular server.

Ideas?

Thanks!

Is the other server failing?
Is it the only active server?

Those 2 things,

- Server failing the download
- Only one active server

Will make fill mode kick in. I mean, it makes no sense to set fill mode if there's only one server so, Newsbin ignores the setting when there's only one.

Hi Quade,

Thanks for the fast reply.

To answer you questions, no, Blocknews is not the only server, and there is no reason for it to be filling.

Here's what happens:

1. Primary server is downloading away.
2. Enable fill server - now downloads immediately start occurring on both servers.
3. Disable fill server - goes back to downloading only from primary.

Do you think deleting and recreating the fill server will help?

I wonder if it's confused because you flipped fill on and off. I'd suggest setting fill in the server, then restarting Newsbin.

See what happens.

No go.

I tried creating a new fill server entry from scratch, and it does that same thing.

I'm using 6.3B5 here. You could try 6.3B4 it's essentially the same.

I have Astra as primary and Giga as fill. Added a set to download, it's only downloading from Astra. Toggle modes on both servers. Now Astra is fill and Giga is not. It's not downloading from Astra now.

I have to believe there's something you're not seeing that's important to this. You sure you're not seeing 430 errors in the logging tab?

Logging tab is empty.

Just did what what you did, swapped fill settings between both servers. Still downloads from both simultaneously.

Don't know then. Might want to give 6.3B4 a try.

No Change with the beta.

But, I think nailed it down.

It only seems to occur with files that were in my download list when I upgraded. Newly added files don't seem to exhibit the issue.

Hmm that's good to know. Not sure why though. Might be a good idea to let the download list empty then delete the "Downloads.db3" file from the data folder to give you a fresh start.
