spool groups not loading

Postby billretno » Sat Nov 26, 2011 12:34 am

recently (no changes to computer) My newsbin can't seem to reload the groups - folder is there with all subfolders - and groups.db3 as well but it does not load (shows zero groups - and no way to load this from program so far as I can teel - very time-consuming to add groups and then reload headers on large groups - help?

I'm not really following what the problem is. From you description it could be a dozen different things. What I mean is that I don't really understand what you're reporting. Header problems, group listing problems. I just don't know.

Just a guess, but it sounds like you're trying to describe Newsbin simply not showing any groups at all, and you're assuming because you can see spool folders outside of Newsbin, you're wondering why they don't show up. Without some context(this just suddenly 'happened '? You never had it working? You moved your installation to a new computer?), one could guess all day. Essentially, Newsbin expects the spools and configuration files to be in a certain location (check data location in options). You might have pooched your configuration files, or might have permission issues where you're storing them.
