Starting Newsbin from command prompt

Postby Sandman » Sat Oct 29, 2011 1:46 pm

I am logging in to my SSH server through my android phone using Connectbot. What I am trying to do is start Newsbin from the command prompt using Connectbot. However it doesn't seem to work. Was it tied to a windows user account during install ? If so, I guess I would have to use the "runas" command to start it remotely?

The pointer to where the NBI files is, is located in HKCU meaning it is tied to a user. So is the registration code. I can start it from the command line from a dos prompt when logged in as me so, it should be possible. "RunAs" might be the best way to do it.

Works. Fires up Newsbin, runs with the proper NBI. So, the question is, what does connectbot do, that's different from just running it from a command prompt? Can it even start a graphical app? What does Newsbin do when you start it with connectbot?

Ok found out what the problem was, I was trying to run newsbinpro64.exe. I tried the newsbin.nbi file and it worked. However that brings me to another issue, it shows Newsbin in the taskmanager running but no GUI to show it is running on my PC. I opened up Newsbin from my PC and it showed the file I sent it but wasn't downloading it. Looked at taskmanager and it showed two instances of Newsbin running. The one instance, with no gui, it was downloading the file. I just couldn't tell it was but it eventually did, checked the download folder and there was the file complete. That brings me to another question, is there a switch/option or something I can execute from command line to tell Newsbin to open up a GUI window on PC? Like something along the lines of Newsbin.nbi -gui?

This is all an issue with how you're starting it. You need to figure out how to start a graphical app with your tools. Something is stopping Newsbin from showing a GUI. I have no idea that that something might be. There's no way to start Newsbin in a way that doesn't show the Gui somewhere. You need to figure out where that is.
