Auto Mode not downloading files automatically

I am using Newsbin Pro 6.0 build 1019 and maybe I am making some incorrect assumptions, but if I have a carefully crafted filter profile applied to a group (in the properties of that group) and have selected the 'Automatic Download' option for that group, shouldn't new files automatically be downloaded by newsbin?

When I open the group I see exactly what I want downloaded (and no more--because the filter is enabled in the display), but nothing every happens. Here are the details on my filter and settings:

Minimum Size=100 MB
Maximum size=500 MB

Subject Accept (enabled):
.*show.name.s\d.*

Subject reject (enabled):
.*.nfo.*
.*.nzb.*
.*.sfv.*
.*.srr.*
.*1080i.*
.*720p.*
.*sample.*

Filename Reject (enabled):
.*.nfo
.*.nzb
.*.par2
.*.sfv
.*.srr
.*.srs
.*sample.*

On the group itself I have the following options enabled:
Automatic Download
User Profile: (with the one I described above selected)

Any ideas? Like I said when I open the group I see exactly what I want to see, I just have to manually download it to initiate things.

I'll have to check it out. It sounds right. In the Advanced options, you might try turning on debug level logging and see if anything is mentioned in the logs when you update the group.

Instead of:
.*.nfo.*

I'd probably do

\.nfo

You don't really need the leading and trailing .*'s Would match exactly the same. I don't think this is the issue just general commentary. It might make no difference but, it's easier to type.

Thanks for your help. I made the changes the the RegEx filters that you suggested and turned on Debug logging. I still get no automatic downloads and no logging that suggests what may be going on. To show that the filters are working properly I can still easily open the groups and the files I want are listed--so a quick double-click is all that is needed to initiate the download.

Do you know if there is anyway to collect more info to have someone in support or engineering look at this more extensively?

In you configuration file, for the group you want to be automode.

[alt.binaries.pictures.somestuff]
Active=1
EnableAutoMode=1
FilterProfile=<Your Filter>


You need both of these fields to be "1" and your filters needs to be listed like this. You might find other stuff listed which is fine but, the group has to be active, in automode and in your case has to have your filter defined. I use automode everyday so it can work. It sounds like it's not really on.

As a test, you could disable the filter and see if automode works without it.
