par2 files still screwed up?!!!

Postby RayMark » Tue Oct 18, 2011 8:30 am

I cannot believe that this very serious but very simple to fix bug was carried over to version 6.
It should have been fixed long long ago.
It should take only a few minutes to fix it.

If AutoPar is disabled, then par2 files MUST be treated as any other files and renamed, not overwritten!
Now, they are not only overwritten and lost, but also their descriptions are not overwritten in sync and are left attached to wrong files!!!

I asked and asked to fix this very very nasty bug many times, probably from version 4, I lost count.
Give me the sources of Newsbin and I will fix it in 5 minutes. Enough is enough.

Good thing, usenet is now switching to pa3 files, Newsbin is not screwing up those (yet?)

It's not a bug. It's intentional. So, there's nothing really to fix.

I can consider changes to how it works if autopar is disabled I guess.

Most of the time you don't end up with a bunch of PARS in the same folder when they files are being repaired and unrared in real time. It's the people who turn off autopar that this impacts.

I'll second that.
