Newsbin v6 startup password problem

Hi Guys, does anyone know how to reset Newsbin's startup password? I set it up and know the password, but after a reboot I cannot get past the challenge ;0(

I am confused - Newsbin does not have a password challenge on startup.

Are you sure you are not talking about the newzbin web site (with a 'z' in the name) - if so this is nothing to do with the newsbin software.

Hi, its the 'Newsbin Security Password' it is selectable in the Options menu

OK - now I understand I never set up that password so I never see that prompt.

You will probably need to wait until Quade comes around as he is likely to know where the information is stored, and therefore how you can reset it.

Thanks for the quick reply, I've looked at the settings in the nbi file, but after trying an older nbi I get the same problem so I guess its a registry key.

You'll have to delete the file "GuiItems.db3" to remove the password.

Hi Quade, I have searched for the file 'GuiItems' but cannot locate it, (even with show all hidden items selected/visible). Where should it be located. Thanks - G.

Somewhere in your user folder.

C:\Users\<name>\.....

I don't know for certain, it's different from windows version to windows version.

Hi Quade, I wasn't able to find it, so I copied the db files to a safe folder and re-installed NBin then replaced the dbs and all is well Image link not allowed for unregistered users . I will give the pwds a miss this time.
