Version 6.10 Release Candidate 2 Available...

Postby dexter » Fri Sep 02, 2011 11:59 pm

Release Candidate 2 has a few bug fixes for issues found soon after the RC1 release. Shouldn't need to many more iterations before we make this one a final.

Here is a summary of changes for 6.10 RC2:
  • Fixed usage of UNC Paths
  • Fixed issue where Local Search Age field couldn't be set to zero
  • Fixed internal crash issue when deleting a file currently being downloaded
  • Added filter commands to the TCP Interface
  • Fixed issue with autopar not counting all available par blocks in some cases.

The download link is on the Newsbin Beta Page.

Any issues with this release, please reply to this thread, contact us through our Technical Support Form or swing by our irc channel. It's #newsbin on irc.newsbin.com.

Is the search server down? Just installed RC2 but I'm unable to use search

[08:11:45] ERROR - SSL Read Failed: 10060 A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond.

Rest of my net seems OK, just rebooted.

Seems to be working here. Typically new install and then connection problems = Firewall blocking the connections.

I may have changed something inadvertently, but downloads of NZB files (clicking on the Download NZB icon) from NZBMatrix do not display the list of files when opened in NewsBin 6.10 RC2. The tab is present, but no files displayed. If I download the zipped file from NZBMatrix (clicking on the Download ZIP icon) and extract the nzb and then open with NewsBin, the files are listed. Maybe something changed at MZBMatrix, but I didn't notice the problem until I updated to RC2.

Newsbin will read Zipped NZB's directly, you don't need to extract them.

What do you see in the logging tab? My initial guess is that there's something wrong with the NZB files.

I just loaded up a couple zipped NZB's a second ago and they appeared fine.

When I download the nzb file and let NewsBin open it directly, I get this in the logging file:
[12:18:31] HIGH - Unable to open NZB File to write to: Filename: C:\Users\AJ\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files\Low\Content.IE5\4R5H0505\The_file_I_downloaded.nzb

If I save the downloaded nzb file locally and then open it with NewsBin, all is okay.

In the options window, the default of 'Setup' is selected on the left. As soon as you use the up-down keyboard options, you move to the next item on the list, and focus on the list is lost (it moves to teh right pane), so in effect you can no longer scoll through the list using up down. I am sure you used to be able to.

Additionally the tab sequence is out of order. Specifically for Switches, as I have not checked the rest. But it starts on 'Multi-Tab Mode', going down the list it jumps 'Background Update', at the bottom it goes to 'Background Update' and finally to 'Auto-Mark Old', which is at the top.

I almost didn't d/l RC2 because of this reported problem. I figured what the hell. I have not been able to duplicate it with my install.

Yeah, wasn't sure what to make of that. Sounds like a permissions problem. Like Newsbin's not allowed to read that folder.
