Version 6.01 Beta 4 Available...

Version 6.01 Beta 4 release has a mixture of cosmetic changes and serious fixes.

Summary:

• Changed tabs to default on the bottom. If you don't like it, you can change back under the View menu
• More additions to the TCP interface to allow development of Remote Control applications (i.e. iPhone/iPad/Android Devices).
• Fixed issue downloading large files on 32 bit systems
• Changed taskbar icon (Win7) to show Pause/Running state with an icon.
• Fixed issues processing .XTM files
• Improvements to AutoPAR processing
• Installer now deletes old Version 5 executable on upgrade
• Search on Poster (From field) has been hooked up.

XTM files are FINALLY working correctly. 3rd times a charm.

Nqma is the users who showed me how it wasn't working so, he's the reason it's fixed.

Itimpi was the driving force behind the weird 32 bit crash bug fixes.

Jonny been working on remote control. He expect to have a IOS beta out pretty soon so, you can control Newsbin with your phone.

Afraid I'll drop back to the B3. Attempted to return the tabs to the top (where all the other stuff is) and completely hosed (apparently I fail to comprehend how to work the drag/drop placement idea on the windows) my layout-- numerous times and deleted the workspace file to return to baseline.

I'm unclear what you mean. You ought to be able to "View/Switch Tab Position" and that's all she wrote. Nothing changed with the actual tabs.

Ahh.. I failed to look in the view but went through the Options panel. Thanks.

Still not a fan of that drag/drop. May be a while before I 'get it'

The "Changed taskbar icon (Win7) to show Pause/Running state with an icon." looks good and is quite useful.

I did however notice a small glitch. The buttons are visible on the taskbar icon but they disappear after newsbin has been minimized to tray and 'brought up again on the taskbar'.

Yeah thanks. What the hell? Looks like I have to reset the buttons after it's been minimized?

Fixed it, thanks. I have to re-create the image buttons every time the program is minimized and restored.

So, I just upgraded from Beta 1 because I haven't checked in a while and I noticed the problem I had before which was fixed in B1 has now resurfaced in B4. I had the headers listings being in the same window with everything else. The tabs loaded right next to download list so there was no extra work for me to do to view the headers. Now, the headers load to the right while everything else (Groups, Download List) is in the same window to the left. I don't know what changed but I was used to that interface from v5 and finally getting it that way in 6 made me happy. If my explanation is unclear, I would be glad to elaborate further.

Where's the search tab? The post lists always appear to the right of the search tab.

Orygun: drag and drop? You know that once you've setup things the way you like it, you can lock the gui, right?

Switching tab position is a nice feature. Now for a true "nice to have" - switch the tabs on upper pane and lower pane independently. The only reason I would want to do this is to put the upper pane tabs at the bottom and the lower pane tabs at the top so that all the tabs are close together right between the panes. I definitely acknowledge this may be an over-the-top flexibility suggestion.

The search tab is hidden because I do not use it but it was with the Download List and Groups List.

You need to put it back then if you want the post lists to show up. Properly.
