Crashing and Will Not Remember Window Positions

Postby Genotipe » Sat Mar 19, 2011 8:12 pm

Win 7 64-Bit B6

Since B2 or so, I've had issues with Newsbin Pro crashing when computer is idle. I have not yet done a clean install. Also, since B5, my group window positions, ie subject, status, size etc...reverts to default each time I start Newsbin. I will try to do a clean install of B6 to see if that will alleviate either problems.

It doesn't save positions till you exit so, you might want to set it, then exit and restart.

I have found that with the betas you need to a clean install. Don't delete the registisies just the executables. That has what I found to work for me.

uninstalled and removed everything but the registration entries. reinstalled b6 and copied over my backed up data folder. still crashing on me and not retaining the settings. hmmm... maybe something wrong w/ my .nbi file? still using the previous one to try to retain my settings. maybe that's a problem?

What's your "NZB autoload" folder set to? Set it to some empty folder and see if it still crashes. I'm trying to imagine what it's doing when it's just sitting there. Scanning for new NZB files is one thing it does. How long does it take? You think it might coincide with the normal idle "server disconnect"?

Autoload NZB Path is not set. I've set it to Users\...\Documents\Newsbin Download\. What is this feature used for? I've been using Newsbin for a long time, but my needs have been simple. The most I ever do w/ nzb's is use them to add an archive to my dl list. Goin out for drinks, but I'll leave it up and see if it's crashed when I get back in a few hours.

Any NZB's dumped into this folder will get loaded and downloaded. You can even setup some subfolders in this folder for different topics and Newsbin can use the folder name as part of the download folder. It's useful if you can get NZB's to your PC alternate ways. FTP or something. It gives you a certain amount of remote control ability.

<Autoload>\Cars
<Autoload>\Buses
<Autoload>\Trucks

can become

<Download Path>\Cars\

If it wasn't set, then it's probably not an issue. I was imagining it set to some busy folder.

I'm going to try deleting my own path and see what happens.
