Completed Files Left in Download List

Technical support and discussion of Newsbin Version 6 series.

Completed Files Left in Download List

Postby Voyager62 » Fri Mar 04, 2011 6:18 pm

I've seached this forum and can't find this exact problem. Is it normal for V6.0b4 to hold all the complete downloaded file in the download list? I have AutoPAR turned off, but Newsbin saves the reference of the downloaded file showing that it's complete in the download list. The file is saved correctly to the hard disk, but these references have to be manually deleted.

The problem only happens to files that are PARS or collections that contain PARS. I'm using Vista x64.

Thank you.

Considering making it optional.

Do you have autopar turned off of just unrar?

AutoPAR is completely turned off. I prefer to do it myself. Optional would be nice so it doesn't clutter up the download list.

There is also an issue where it downloads all the PARs because they aren't grouped into a collection with the RAR files. I've only tried v6 with image groups and when I select what I want and right click and select "Add to Download List," it downloads all the PARs. It seems like in this instance it would be better to have the old PAR list. This also happens with RAR sets that don't have an RAR extension. I guess the poster does this to avoid the Spider.

Thank you for your reply.

If you turn off autopar and add pars to the download list, it downloads them. With autopar off, it doesn't even know that they're pars. They're just files to it. I'd expect the compacted together sets to work the same way. If they don't, they should.

I experienceing exactly the same issue.

I have NOT disabled Autopar but have disabled the Autorar button.

The posts are stuck in download queue. Have to manually do a autopar, and then if okay, I delete from the queue.

Worked fine until update 3, now tried update 5 and still same issue.

Thanks

Done and none.

Ran autopar and all complete.

Just shows the pars left to do, but they are paused.

I'm going back to work on autopar now that the new GUI is in place. I'd try unpausing one of the PARS and see if that triggers the unrar.

Just tried b5 and the problem still exists. The files are complete and saved to the download directory and verify correctly. Pause and Resume don't do anything. Assemble incompletes turns the download bar gray, but doesn't clear them from the list. I still have to delete them.

I have AutoPAR turned off

Yes, at this point in time, that's how it works. Internally B5 and B4 are mostly the same. I spent all my time on the new GUI.

I only notice SAMPLE grouped files being left in DL list. I just verify that they are samples and manually delete them.

As an update to this, if I use Autorar then all works fine. It removes from the download list.

But if i remove the "automatically unrar completed files" then it keeps the item in the download list.

Just to clarify I am only disabling autoRar and not autoPar.

Want the par to be verified and checked. But dont want files to be Unrar'd

It's still in a state of flux. I've not made any final decisions about what it's going to do.

I know that some people download files and then open up in sandbox to see if any virus are included within the rar.

If you cant chose where to unrar, could open up a virus/spyware to their machine.

Yes, I know people should have antivirus and all that, but sometimes sandbox is the only truely safe way.

Hopefully pushing your "flux" to have seperate par/unrar options. Sure many people would be grateful.

Yeah...unless you RUN what's in the RAR, it doesn't matter if it has a virus in it. So, you won't get infected by looking inside a RAR. You won't get infected even if you unrar a virus onto your hard disk. it has to be executed some way or else it's just a file. It's not like someone sneezing on your.

You can unrar to a sandbox now. Look in the autopar options...

personally i think it should work as follows :

if autopar/unrar is disabled then it should leave all the files in the download list until manual intervention BUT if manual unrar is choosen it should delete the entry from the list

Which no other client does. Even 5.x. There are plenty of people asking why this is the default behaviour. At least give us the option to have the client remove the files.

i assume it is because it shows people that the files need action

v5 had the uatopar tab, this no longer there so expect different behaviour, things change as im sure this action might change before it is a final release

i dont see the point comparing other clients, every other ones works differently, comring newsbin to sabnzb for example is like comparing apples to oranges

I don't mind the files staying in the list as completed, but when I then restart newsbin it has forgotten it completed the download last time and will start downloading them all over again, even if the files are still in the download directory.

Is there any way to turn that off, or is the only solution to manually clear the list before you close the program?

If it is doing this, then I believe it is a bug.

What version? B7 downloads the first chunk and verifies that the file is still on disk. It doesn't re-download everything. Older versions probably will re-download.

I decided to give this another try and it did indeed not download the whole thing, only about 10% of it. I guess I clicked clear before it reached that point last time.

It does redownload the whole thing if you have deleted the files though. Which will usually be the case as people tend to delete the rars once they unpack them. Is that something that will get changed in an upcoming version? It doesn't seem like wanted behaviour to me.

Same exact thing here. It did it with the last beta and it still does it in the current beta. Seems to only be doing it with files marked as "samples".
