Hi Folks,

Maybe a daft question but how does one get the v6 beta to test, I've been happily testing version since 4.x but didn't see a link for this one ?

For some reason, you were not in the "Registered Users" group that gives you access to the beta forums. I just added you. You should now see the Registered Users Area and the forum for the beta discussion.

I'm looking into a blanket fix for everyone with this problem. It is affecting 10% of registered users and I can't get a handle on exactly why.

Ok, everyone who actually entered their newsbin key into their forum profile should have access to the registered users area of the forums now.

Everything looks fine here. Did you log out and back in? That might be required to reset permissions.

You have to enter your Newsbin key in your forum profile to gain access to the registered users section of the forums.

Keys are the same for v4. v5 and v6 so that is surprising?

Are you including the dashes? It's best to copy and paste it from either our original email or from Newsbin's Help/About screen.

I tried both with and without dashes. Without dashes my key is not accepted but with dashes it seems to be accepted. However the field is cleared the next time I enter the configuration page. The key is copied from the "about" info page.

Your key is in use by another forum account you had created. I should pop up an error message when this happens. Thought it was. I'll PM you to resolve your specific issue.

I'm in the same boat.
Entered my key went to USERGROUPS on my CONTROL PANEL and it will not let me select REGISTERED USERS group.

Did you just enter your key recently? I fixed everyone who had already entered their keys.

I have added you to the registered users group, you should have access now.

Done. Looks like something is still wrong if so many people are still having problems.

5aboy and td911, at what point did you enter your key in your forum profile? Was it at the same time you signed up for the forums or after you had your login and then came back later to fill it in your profile? Did you get any errors when you entered your key into your profile? Did anything otherwise strange happen?

I've tested with entering a key with a new account and it worked for me. I'm wondering what I'm missing.

When I signed up for the forum I entered my registration key and there are many forums that I can not view as of now. I just thought you had to sign up for each individually and I'm to lazy to do it. :wink:

I checked and I can get to all of them now, I did not try to view may of the topics in the forums just got to the topic list. There was a topic on this forum where someone listed a discussion on a different forum that when I clicked on the link it said I had to be a registered user to view it. It did not mean enough to me at the time to care about it.

Yours must've gotten fixed with the blanket fix I applied last week.

I added my key to the profile after i had verified the email and returned to the user panel.I still dont have access to that link displayed at the beginning of this topic

I'm having the same problem also, I just got around to entering in my V4 reg key today, and was hoping to get access to the hotness that is V6. Yes, I did see the YouTube clips

I am unable to access the registered users forum.

You guys know you don't have to have access to the Registered Users area to download the beta. There is a link on the main site to the beta page. We encourage discussion and bug reports for the Newsbin Beta in the Registered Users area but you don't need access to try the beta out.
