While it isn't officially supported, we have many users who successfully run NewsBin under Linux with a Windows emulator (Wine is the most popular). This forum exists for you Linux guys to share your experience getting NewsBin running on Linux as well as report any strangeness that we may or may not be able to fix. DThor is the resident expert.

Just thought that I would post this.
I am running newsbin pro 5.34B6 on linux. It works great.
I have only found one problem it is in the new internet search option.
If I type in the name of a fine and filter for files 500mb or larger it seems to always come back with nothing. If I filter for 1mb the same search will come back with many entries which I can than re filter to 500mb. But If I just filter to 500mb nothing comes back in the search.
Just thought I would pass this on.

That's because there's nothing in the search engine that's 500 mb. You only see 500mb files in Newsbin because it compacts a bunch of smaller files together. Typically the largest single file posted is in the 50-100 mb range.
I probably wouldn't use a max size filter over 20 megs or so or do what you're doing now and wait till they finish downloading to apply the filter.
