Retries -- What happens behind the curtains?

Postby jimerb » Sat Feb 15, 2020 4:53 pm

I've always been curious why there are retries?

If a file is not available on a news server what makes it possilbe that it will be there in a few minutes?

I can see if the post is new and it's not done syncing -- but if it's old -- isn't it going to be missing the second time around?

Curious how this works...

For Search and NZB's they don't make much sense but for headers they do because you might have started the download before all the headers showed up. On the other hand, with headers becoming more and more useless, I might just remove them. One and done. Retries are also used to gate the PAR downloads.

Maybe I'll try removing them and see what happens.
