Setting to fail downloads on 430 errors ?

Postby cheezystix » Sun Jul 19, 2020 2:42 pm

Something I don't like about Newsbin, it can try and try to download large files for 30-50 mins before failing ?
During this time I can see the Failed 430 errors in the logs .. but it just keeps trying and trying until it eventually fails ?
How can I dial this down so that it more quickly fails on 430 errors ? or some # of 430 errors ?
I am sick of waiting an hour downloading tons of data and ending up with nothing!
BTW, Setting retries does absolutely nothing to resolve this issue

Ok I think I found a possible solution

Setting File Failure Threshold
Version 6.82 Beta 4 and above: Newsbin now fails downloads that exceed 15% error rate instead of forging ahead and attempting to download the rest of the file. You can adjust this threshold by adding the FailErrorPercentage variable to the newsbin.nbi file.

[SETTINGS]
FailErrorPercentage=15

Ok .. gave this setting a try ..

Using Newbin Pro 6.82 - Build 5142

But this feature still doesn't seem to be working ?
Even when Set to
FailErrorPercentage=1

I can see the 430 errors mounding up in the logs .. but the download continues and never Fails until the end where it ends up with nothing

[SETTINGS]
FailErrorPercentage=X

Is correct. It has to be under "Settings".

How many servers are you using? A chunk is only failed when it's tried on all servers. So, if you have a dead or slow server it can really slow the fail down.

I have in correct spot under Settings
[SETTINGS]
FailErrorPercentage=1

I had (default) 8 servers .. changed to 2
But still not failing when it should on a file with 50+ 430 errors ?

Anything else I can try ?

just switched servers to 1
and set
[SETTINGS]
FailErrorPercentage=1

After 400+ 430 errors .. it finally failed

I really would like it to fail faster than this ?
Maybe Number ex. FailErrorNumber=30 would offer additional control ?
