Well I posted before about not using standard windows color scheme (viewtopic.php?f=44&t=38182). There's still no GUI option for it, so I tried using UseBackgroundColor=0 as Quade had suggested before but when I loaded up I had a damn white screen staring me in the face. I closed NB and I saw an option in the .nbi called BwAutoOff=0 and setting it to 1 and started up nope still white. if there is no fix, Can I downgrade back to 6.56 without things breaking again?

I got it to work, The header above the command is case sensitive. I'd still like to see an option in the GUI since all previous versions of NB conformed to system color settings.

This has actually been in there a long time.

No field in the NBI should be case dependent, I'll have to check it out. It should have already been set from the last beta so I'm not sure why you had to change it again.

I corrupted my own headers the internet went out during a header download and NB couldn't read the data so I restored my headers from an earlier version 6.56 emptied all the lists and reinstalled beta 15. I see the option under settings and it's set to 0 but I still get a white screen. I manually added the following:

[Colors]
BackgroundInsert=0

I deleted the option under settings and I'm back to a white screen. Keep in mind i close NB before I change the nbi file. I have another version of my nbi that I use for just for nzbs in case I'm backing up my headers and that config is working fine. I'll play with it later.

BackgroundInsert=0 was a lazy copy and paste move.

I made a change recently. I removed the "old" color from color backgrounds. It's not in a version you have yet. I wonder if the background color you're complaining about it the "old" color applied to the subject column? Basically when you make a post "old" it now reverts to standard background color.

There's been no change to how the background color stuff works in the version you have compared to the prior 6.60 beta.

I just tested both ways It toggles back and forth between default and not.

I am running the same settings in my .NBI

I'm running Visual Studio 2010 Appearance...did the same for 6.56R. There is now a difference in some of the colors between these two versions. The Drag or Selection Color in 6.56R matched what I have set up in Win7 for Selection....240.208.48; in RC3, the Drag and Selection Color is light blue. So, it seems 6.60 is taking over from some Win 7 colors set by the user. Are there some settings I am missing or have their been some changes I'm not aware of?

I'm not seeing any difference in selection color between the versions. I don't set selection color in my code. It's whatever the default happens to be.

Understand, but I confirmed my last report by reinstalling 6.56R and noting the Selection Color, and then reinstalled RC3 to note the Selection Color. Something about displaying colors is different between the two versions.

I have no idea how you managed to get those colors. Either one to be honest. It's probably related to you tweaking the main windows selection colors. I tried with the background setting flag on and off and I get the same color both times.

What color is it over old posts? The ones that don't have green highlighting?

Took half a dozen posts, and converted them to Old. Clicked and dragged on the Old Post entries. Selected/Drag Highlight color are the same as shown in the screen caps.

I've tried this on my win7 box with RC3 and can't get the colors you are getting. Maybe someone else can confirm?

The only thing I can see is that 6.56R is compatible with my Win 7 Appearance Settings and something in 6.60 has changed somehow. I can repeat the colors in the Screen Caps just by installing the respective indicated version. Would also have to say my recollection is that several previous versions of 5.xx were also fine and followed my Win 7 Appearance Settings, or I would have brought it your attention already.

Here are some more screen caps. Note how the Group Selection List follows my Default Selection Color of 240,208,48 with Black Text. Note the same for the Log Window text selection. Then note the Post List Window....why does the only the Post List Window seem to not follow my color Defaults???? Any Watch_List Post List is the same. So, it seems all Post List Windows defy or ignore User Color Defaults.

Again, 6.56R was fine and is repeatable on reinstall.

I set my selected text to some puky brown color and it's the same color in Newsbin as in Explorer and my email program. All tabs show the same color.

At this point Dex and I have no idea how to help you.

OK, what Theme are you running? Win 7 Basic, Windows Classic, or an Aero Theme?

I probably solved it. Not sure if it's going to make RC4 or not. The fact that the search tab and post lists act differently was the clue. They're exactly the same control. It pointed me at an area to look at.

I was using a high contrast theme and then setting my own colors. Apparently that doesn't trigger it. I'm still not setting the selection color but apparently some theme magic did.

Apparently, some Themes take over the screen and superimpose its own colors. I never knew that Aero themes did that in Win7. Apparently, Win7 Basic Theme hijacks some colors as well. I moved to Windows Classic Theme and now have full control over colors, etc which NB seems to like and follow. Seems Themes can really complicate a Developer's Life and then you have to put up with a tenacious user like me

On another note, I really and truly miss XP!
