Beta 15
Can't hide the Group Column in the Post List in this release. Was that intentional or an oops?
Thanks

Intentional.

Interesting....well, the Group Name shows on the Tab at the top as well as in the Group List on the Left. Showing it in the Post List seems redundant. I liked that fact that the Group Column in the Post List was optional to conserve horizontal space.

Move the column to the far right and resize some other column to push it off screen.

Yep, that'd do it ok.
Thanks

No it won't grrrr....when I push it off screen, the Horizontal Scroll Bar appears at the bottom of the Post List. That was the benefit of making the Column Zero Width....it could be pushed right to the edge of the screen and not trigger the Horizontal Scroll Bar.

I'd like to make it a narrower minimum but windows isn't cooperating.

Well, all the Betas through 14 and 6.56 Release were fine....what changed in 15 that can't go back to previous versions?
Thanks

I don't want to go back to the old way because people lose the columns. I'd rather solve the problem by setting a minimum width.

Setting column width to zero is not new....MS Excel allows it (hides the column) and my experience with Excel influenced me to try the same approach in NB a very long time ago on the Group Column. NB has done this for years or at least as far back as I can remember. There's gotta be a way to bring the novices along without penalizing the more advanced.
I guess I can see the less experienced possibly complaining about losing a Column. Can this be a Option in Settings? Can you set a Variable in the code that looks at a Minimum Column Width Number in Settings and allow it to accept a zero?
Thanks

There is also the Image Database tab now apparently permanently stuck in the Tab Bar. I don't use the ID, never have and almost certainly never will. How can I get rid of this unnecessary clutter?
I have always kept the Group Column conveniently docked on the left-hand edge, where it was easily opened but not adding clutter.
BIg NO vote for these changes!

If you can't close it, you might want to toggle off the lock icon and then close it. Nothing has changed with the ID so, I don't know why it suddenly appeared. With the lock active, you can open tabs, you just can't always close them.

Quade, something else to think about here with Columns.
In Topics, I hide the Group Column because I have the info in the Tab above and on the left in the Groups List Column.
In Watch Topics, I display the Column because I want to see what Group the Post is in since some Posters post in several Groups. Previously, NB has allowed this flexibility and choice and would prefer not to lose this choice. I am voting a big No on forcing Columns as well. It seems users like to hide the Group Column as well or selectively display it.
Thanks

I'm not sure what you're asking. You seem to be missing the conclusion. You don't like something different about watch and post lists but didn't actually explain what you're seeing.

No, I am actually trying to comment positively on how I like the flexibility of being able to hide the Groups Column and how I selectively employ that choice between Topics and Watch Lists. I would like to see NB allow the choice of showing or hiding Columns like it did before, and not force a minimum column width like Beta 15 does.
Sorry I didn't make that clear before.
Thanks

Can this be a Option in Settings? Can you set a Variable in the code that looks at a Minimum Column Width Number in Settings and allow it to accept a zero?
In
Options/Switches/Display Switches, there is space to add a Minimum Column Width Value. If a beginner doesn't want to lose a column, then the number would be say "5", and the user would always see all columns. If a user wanted to hide a column(s), then setting this value to zero would allow hiding the column.
Just my two cents
Thanks
