6.60B7 Hangs When Trying to Close

When using the "close button" (upper right top corner red X) the program hangs and sometimes gives a "not responding" message. It may take up to 30seconds before the program closes. Having a group header window open seems to increase the hang time bfore closing.

I just noticed the red "Paused" button comes on when trying to close the program.

The pause means it knows it's supposed to exist. Sounds like it's busy doing something and doesn't want to close just yet. Do you have a bunch in the download list?

Nothing at all, no files selected and no files pending.

It'll be slow to close if it's still importing headers. You know the number in parens down near the cache line?

Ghosts in the machine? I made no changes and the issue is gone for now. When I had the issue I would open the program, wait about 30 secs. see no header or file activity and go to close the program. Instant hang. As of last night all is back to it's snappy crisp self. BTW this never occurred with any build prior to this one. So if it reappears I will re-post. Otherwise this is a closed issue. Except for the hang thing I have found the latest build much faster with regards to header loading and display. The entire program seems accelerated in general.

B7 checks some of the database files on startup. Wonder if that's what it was doing?

Any way to check? I will be happy to if you think it is worth the time.

As long as it's working for you now it's good. I'll try to start and immediately exit. It's not something I normally test.

I did have a issue with a delay with beta 7 in dl headers, it only happened once, so will let you know if it occurs again. It took Newsbin about 30 seconds to start auto dl of headers when I opened the program.

Like I said, just happened once, with nothing else really happening on system. Worked fine since.

Is there a way to shut off auto header downloading? Delayed shut downs started again. I did a clean install with and after the initial header downloads restarted the program and still delayed shutdown with the pause indicator activating.

I am watching the Logging tab and the program is cycling through all my groups ([00:13:11] DEBUG DbWorker: Db Update Started5: C:\Users\Jerrold L. Siegel\AppData\Local\Newsbin\Import\alt.binaries.sounds.flac-Ming@Mars_Planet_Radio.edu-31014610-32014610.gz as an example) over and over. Do I need another clean install?

Might be normal.

If you think it's a problem, you can go into the import folder in the data folder and delete this file.

Ok things got to the point I could only close the program by killing the process (or wait 1-2 minutes). Totally removed all traces of the program, folders, files and shortcuts. Did a clean install and made to first download age and display age shorter. Seems to have improved things. The only odd issue is that there are a few groups that after selecting one of them and updating the headers, the new files count does not set to zero.
