First round of bug fixes to 6.60. Here's Beta 2.

Summary:
  • Removed gridlines option from all menus except main view menu
  • Made more performance improvements for compacting expanded download list.
  • Fixed issue where Watch list size dropdowns were empty.
  • Fixed issue where opening the watch from a specific watch wouldn't set it correctly, so any settings were getting cleared when you hit OK.
  • When opening watch options from right click, now selects the specific watch option.
  • Hooked up Mark All Old from a post list as well as Auto-Mark Old.

More info and download link is on the Newsbin Beta Page

NOTE: The Download List is incompatible with anything prior to 6.60! We recommend you finish any queued downloads before installing this beta. This applies to the Wish List and Failed Files list too.

You can either reply to this thread or send us a message through our Technical Support Form with any questions or issues.

Known Issues:

Bugs in B1
- GUI: Icon in groups list shows filter instead of blank.
- GUI: Filters - test button doesn't work.
- GUI: Filters - Consider making it resizeable.
- Engine: Reports that GOG paths might be bleeding into each other.
- Engine: Report that UnRAR filter is not working
- Seeing .srr files left behind.
- Probably changes to how filename filters work for compacted sets.
- Consider uncompacting meta files as a solution only in download list.

Fixed for B2:
+ Engine: Report that unrar folder isn't being used.
+ GUI: Display Settings doesn't show the previous setting. It's not persisting.
+ GUI: Filter Profile doesn't show the previous settings. It's not persisting.
+ GUI: Thumbnails don't work.
+ Engine: Manual delete from files list doesn't go through recycle bin
- Engine: "Download to Folder" uses the NZB Download path if the data was loaded from NZB.
+ GUI: Browsing to path with Asian characters doesn't do proper conversion. Path edits.

Save files to custom list inop, whether by right-click or assigned kybd key. Worked in B1 (if memory serves right).

Still, when selecting numerous files as a group, downloads to different directories, named for sequential subject; ctrl-y, ctrl-e, or 'named for subject' - all same.

In rar set, downloads all parts but deletes several parts prior to assembly-- used recovery software- does not show deleted file on disc.

In addtion, this oddity popped up in the Downloading Files window and persisted until exiting program:

Seeing this on all files. Have seen parts of files get stuck like this as the next file downloads nearly to completion. Not seeing anything in log(debug lvl)as to missing parts etc. Any ideas?

PM me an example, I see nothing like that.

Do you have a dead server? A server that normally works but, is dead now? That's what your download issue looks like. Newsbin is looking for another server to step in but it never does.

Believe I see the wish list thing. It's going through the motions. Looks like it's saving it to the wrong file.

After much experimentation with servers have found the following,

1) setup 1 server with 1 connection and set priority to 1, reload NB all is fine, 1 chunk showing as downloading(green bar) 1 connection made

2) setup another server, more than 1 connection set priority lower than 1(doesn't matter what) reload. Nb will appear to be making a lot more connections(more green bars appearing) Im not seeing connections being made to lower priority servers in the server window. Its this that causes the stalling.

I can reproduce this each time and with every server i have setup(astrweb tweaknews blocknews) If enable all servers and set priority to 1 for each server all is well.
I now have 2 servers enabled, each priority 1 and all is well.

hopes this helps

EDIT my connection is running at 4.5mbs, maybe this is less apparent on very fast broadband

Unrar folder is working now, but .srr files still left behind even though they are rejected in the UnRAR filter.
I no longer see the green progress bar as it unrars.
If I disable the filters on an open GoG, I see a page of red "Deleted" lines. If I scroll down, then back up, they disappear.

Yeah, the filters on compacted sets thing is still an issue. B2 was mainly to fix the unrar path problem because I considered that to be critical.

Gkar, I'll see if I can repro it. There's a guy on irc, also on a slow connections, reporting similar results.

Auto shutdown is still not working. When enabled it wants to shutdown Newsbin regardless if there are downloads in the process.

Do you need logs or specific info?

I like the new RAR timestamp option - use internal if checked or today's date if unchecked. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be working. When left unchecked, it still UnRARs with the internal date.

When view the post list for a group "Mark All Old" fails to fully update the list. I have "Hide Old" set but the old file will not hide on their own.
