Saving to custom list

Hi,
again a question/problem regarding the custom list feature...
I'm using 6.51B4 and I have created one custom list. Sometimes right-clicking on a post in a group and "save to..." does work, then again it doesn't. Is there something I have to keep in mind, doing that? Or is there no particular reason why it may/may not work?
thanks!

It should work 100% of the time. Is there any pattern to the ones that don't work?
What's your "storage age" set to? I'm wondering if data is being purged out from under you.

Hi,
no, so far I haven't found a pattern. Sometimes it's a post with a single file, sometimes it's a group of files. Sometimes I have a whole bunch of posts selected, sometimes just one. And not one specific group either.
The storage age is currentliy set to 2000 days. Don't ask me why it's that high. I think at one time, I may wanted all headers available on the server. Is there a downside to it being that high? I mean speed or stability wise (I know it takes up space)?
Thanks.

Only space and probably performance.
Mine's 2000 too.
I'll see if I can reproduce it. As I said, it should be 100%. Are you saving to custom list from the search tab or from a post listing? By that I mean a group you downloaded headers from.

Only directly from groups.

At first I thought it might have something to do with downloads being from locked out posters. But it isn't limited to that. Right now I have two groups open, where in one it works and in the other it doesn't.
Which brings me to another problem: with filters disabled, when I click on a locked out poster (status: "Poster Filtered"), to "unlock poster", it seems NB is working and then refreshes the list. But the poster in question is still shown as locked out (with the red icon) afterwards. Restarting doesn't help either.

I'll check it out today. We're on the final push for the 6.51 release. I have this and a password thing to check before release.
Could you PM me what group works and what group doesn't?

Ok, I found a way it could silently fail. If you chose a name that was already in use when you picked "New" the files might end up on some off the wall group. Now it'll prompt you to tell that the name is alreayd in use.
Other than that I wasn't able to make it fail to copy the files.
I also added counter updates so, when you feed files to the custom list, it updates the current custom list new file count.

OK, thanks. I guess I just have to wait for the new release and watch what happens.
I noticed, the number of files in the custom list never updated by itself. Only when you had it open in a tab. Thanks again!

Thought, I'd let you know how it worked... fine at first.
I could add any post to my list. It also showed the number updating in either the open tab, or the list (under "custom list") each time I added a post.
But then for some reason, after restarting after a couple of days, the number went from 120 to 2 entries and when I opened the list in a tab (double clicking on the list) it was empty. By now I have deleted the list, added a new one. But right at the moment it's not working at all. I'm going to keep trying with different groups though.
*edit
I just tried it with three different groups: two of them work. The number gets updated and the files were saved to the list. With the third group the number of files gets updated, but when I open the list they're not there. The "new files" go back to 0 after that.

I just realised, the posts that didn't work were from 2012. There seems to be a problem with the age of the postst (none of the boxes in the properties for the list are checked).
The oldest post I can add to the list at the moment is Feb 10th 2014. Doesn't matter what group it's from. Everything older than that isn't working.

So, where we're at is that it works on all files newer than 2012 and spotty on older files?
The process of saving to custom list is simply to copy out of one database and copy back into another database. What you're reporting seems to be a database issue. I won't be able to test it again till Monday but, I'll try some older posts. With your storage age set to 2000 it should just work because the databases shouldn't be getting purged.

How about doing "Show All" when you view this list? I'm pretty sure "Display Age" still applies as do any other filters you might have set. You seem to be reporting that they're spontaneously vanishing which is typically a filter issue(that they're still there but, hidden). That the age or old/new status of the posts is simply hiding them or one of the filter profiles.

That's the ticket!
I didn't notice the setting...
You're right, "Display age" was still selected. "Show all" fixes it.
Thanks again!
btw: for a future release, would it be possible, to have posts, that are already stored in a custom list, to have a different icon or color option (when viewed in the group tab)?

I can consider it. It would either take multiple database accesses which is slow or maybe I could use downloadmarker.db3 to do it.
