I seem to be having the same problem, double click, then it tries then nothing, but it's in the Task Manager already.

Might be time for a re-install. The DB3 files in the data folder might be corrupt too. Before a re-install you could by moving them out of the data folder.

I get this regularly as well ( reported it a couple of weeks ago) - the reason that it doesn't start when you double click the desktop icon and it shows in the Task manager is because it didn't shut down the last time you closed it. The GUI disappears but NB is still running according to Task manager.

The indication for me is if when you close NB down and the GUI disappears within 2 seconds then NB has closed if the GUI is there for over 2 seconds - in my case it can be up to 5 seconds - then it will not have shut down completely and you can open Task manager and see it still running without the GUI. I've checked Task manager up to 5 hours after shutting NB down and it still shows it running.

I shut NB down 30 minutes ago and the GUI took about 5 seconds to disappear- when I checked Task manager just now it showed it still running.

after doing a complete re-install of the 6.50 RC3, it seems to be not crashing, even from the task bar, maybe it was the upgrading to the beta was the problem. Will keep an eye on it..

I had updated to 6.50RC B3095 yesterday as well and unfortunately (why is it always me  ) ran into crashes.

The crashes occured during plain downloads with a mix of files from NZBs and direct selections from one newsgroup in the download queue.
Apparently the crashes in my case happened - judging from the folder and file dates - about every 8 or 9 hours after starting the downloading.
I should add, that the logging window is free from any errors on startup as well on the start of the downloads.

I followed the common step and re-installed the same version of NBP twice, but I didn't to a clean install, i. e. removing and installing the program, because I would like to keep the download database, etc.

To my excuse, I wasn't awake enough, after the crashes had happed, to create a screenshot or whatsoever. Right now, however, I've created the registry entry to let NBP save the information of the logging window to disk.
If the crashing continues I'll return with - hopefully - more useful information.

Thanks.

I have a new RC4 that's been tested by someone who had random crashes and it seems to have stopped his crashing. We'll try to get it into the forum pretty soon.
