Shouldn't assign password to a failed file download cause the unrar to retry?

Maybe. For now you have to add it to the download queue again.

In 6.50 RC3, assign a password doesn't actually do anything. Not clear what version you're using. I'm probably going to remove "Assign a Password" from the GUI before release because it's not used any more. Now you add the password before the download and Newsbin will figure out what password to use.

I am using rc3
The issue is that I add a password after the system detects wrong password... In that case there is no way to tell nbp to retry after I add the password later.

Dex's answer, send it back to the download list from the failed, is the current answer. Each time Newsbin tries to unrar, it grabs the list of passwords from the password file. Retries don't trigger unrars unless new data is downloaded.
It's all new stuff so, alternatives are worth thinking about.

Few things:
1. Redownloading a 50GB file is not something I would like to do...
2. My issue with not simply asking it to "unrar" via the dedicated button is because it is a blocking (modal) UI and I need a non blocking version of that.
3. I would hope for a new menu that would appear if something fails to unrar - is "retry unrar"...

Newsbin won't re-download files you've already downloaded and that are sitting in the download path. It should just check the files. If not, PM me an example.
2. My issue with not simply asking it to "unrar" via the dedicated button is because it is a blocking (modal) UI and I need a non blocking version of that.
Which isn't an issue if you re-add the download and let Newsbin check it. The only time this might not work is if the files are renamed during the repair process.
You've not really made clear what the failure mode looks like. Does the file set remain in the download list or get sent to failed?

The situation is simple. I download a fileset and don't notice they have a password.
When download is done it gets stuck in the download list with a message that the password is wrong.
I assign the password bit now but what now?
I am not sure how to add it back to the download list...

Try "Ctrl-Ins" to send it to the wish list then add it back from the wish list. You might want to back up the 50 gigs of files first. As I said, this is pretty new so, I'm not 100% sure what's going to happen.

This is obviously a feature request
My current solution is to unrar it manually. Annoying but works 100%.

Yeah. If you use WinRAR to unrar it, you won't have to worry about a modal dialog stopping access to Newsbin.
I'll have to think about how it might retry the unrar more naturally.

I think that it should retry automatically all stuck unrars (that were stuck due to wrong or missing password) after you add a new password...

I have to agree, getting stuck like that, and not being able to restart the Unpacking is a bummer...
