We are now entering Release Candidate status for 6.50. This means only bug fixes will be addressed until final release and we will start the translation process for languages other than English. If you were looking for a new feature for 6.50, you can lobby to make sure it is considered for 6.51

Following are the changes since the last beta release:

  • Fixed issue detecting potential spam with RAR files inside RAR files
  • Fixed renaming of Group Folders (GOG Renaming)
  • Fixed issue where performing searches in Local mode wasn't feeding the database
  • Local search provides more progress details while processing now.
  • Fixed issue with matching counts in watch lists. Wasn't taking into account size filters
  • First chunk completed files now stay on disk to handle restarts while downloading. They get cleaned up automatically on a periodic basis.
The download link for Release Candidate 1 is on the Newsbin Beta Page.

Reply to this thread or contact us through the Newsbin Support Form for bug reports or issues with this release.

Local search provides more progress details while processing now.

This one actually refers to "Scan" mode in a watch list item. When you rescan a watch and happen to be in local mode, you see more details of the scan. The counts of hits are more accurate now too.

The code is pretty much there in Newsbin. We're working on getting the backend ready for periodic search queries. Wanted to get 6.50 out with all it's autopar improvements first.

So, the answer is yes.

btw time to "finish current downloads" is counting paused files. imo this is not a useful feature

[17:39:18] DEBUG Duplicate Insert to Download List: blh blah blah" - 19,00 GB yEnc
[17:40:32] DEBUG AutoPARPlugin: General failure to UnRAR/Repair Shouldn't happen: Blah Blah Blah

Seeing a lot of the above duplicate insert to list. The file in question has never been downloaded before. Ive got the dup detector off and my que was virtually empty before the above nzb was loaded.

any ideas?

thx gKAR :)

That message just means Newsbin is retrying the download.

17:40:32] DEBUG AutoPARPlugin: General failure to UnRAR/Repair Shouldn't happen: Blah Blah Blah

This is the serious problem. Your repairs are failing.

Well, if you don't see anything wrong with the download then maybe it's a misleading error.

why not stop retries showing as duplicate inserts?

Re: Version 6.50 Release Candidate 1 Available...

Because they are duplicate inserts. When Newsbin retries, it looks for updated headers in the group database and re-inserts the download to update it.

[17:39:18] DEBUG Duplicate Insert to Download List: blh blah blah" - 19,00 GB yEnc

If you don't like seeing it, I'd suggest reducing the logging level from Debug to something else.

thx for the info. How about something like [17:39:18] DEBUG Duplicate Insert to Download List: blh blah blah" - 19,00 GB yEnc(RETRY) Would make it easier at a glance to see whats happening and troubleshoot.

thx

I have a question/remark about the new password list unrar option.

If I add an post to the download list the post gets moved into the failed section immediately. I do not even get the chance to rightclick it And do the Assign an unrar password.

Also in ~ B13 I could specify a password for a post without adding it to the list. With B18 this is no longer possible it seems.

So actions performed :
1) Add nzb to newsbin and select download.
2) post gets moved to FailedFiles tab
3) I rightclick the post and select download so downloading resumes.
4) I rightclick the post and I choose "Specify unrar password" paste the password in the password line and click OK (not add)
5) unrar fails, it says missing password. However when rightclicking the post and choosing Properties the password is displayed there.
6) I choose "Specify unrar password" paste the password in the password line and click Add, then select the just added password and then click OK.
7) unrar is performed.

I would prefer to be able to specify a one time password without storing it in the list.
The idea of keeping a list with passwords that recur is very nice.

By the way : Big thanks for implementing RAR5 so quickly :)

Go under Options/Spam Filter Settings and turn off "Fail RARs that need Passwords"

Add the password to the password list BEFORE you feed the NZB. Then Newsbin should be able to figure out which password it needs to use. The manual assignment of password probably doesn't work and I have to decide whether to remove it or allow it to override the password in the list.

If you have something that won't unrar and you've supplied the correct password, PM me the filename/subject and the password and I'll test it.

Hi,

The Options - Spam Filter - Fail rars that need a password is already unchecked. The post gets moved into the failed files tab anyway.

In the end all unrarring is succesful so, it does work although it needs more manual intervention.

I download posts that have randomly generated passwords that will not re-occur usually.
So I need to paste the psw in the box, then click "add", then I need to search through the list to find it again, click on it and press OK.
This procedure works but I think it could be shorter.

I like the option where I, after adding the file to the download list, rightclick it -> properties, and use the "set" button for path and password.
However this option is only available after download starts. It would be nice to see this on all posts in the "Downloading Files" tab.
And maybe it could be possible to have that option bypass the password list feature.

Also a button with 'clear all passwords from the list" would be welcome. After ~ 100 random passwords it is tedious to delete them one by one and to have to press the confirmation "Delete these passwords" on every one.

You don't have to do this. You just have to add the password to the list then click OK. First add the password, then add the download. Newsbin will pick the proper password. The options menu lets you add passwords.

The passwords are stored in a text file called "RarPasswords.txt" meaning you can add them directly there if you want to too. If you have list of these passwords, you can just add them directly to the password text file. Newsbin reads the file each time it looks for a password. Deleting the file will erase the passwords.

This procedure works but I think it could be shorter.

You didn't seem to read or understand my last post on this. I think it's already shorter.

1 - Add password to list
2 - Add files to download.

I'll look into a "clear passwords" button.

Thanks. You are right. If adding the psw to the list is sufficient the 'select password' step is no longer necessary.

I did not realise it was just a text file that I could edit. In that case a button is not really needed.

If you find files that don't work, please PM me the password and subject and I'll work on it. I don't tend to download passworded files so, I can't test every eventuality without your help.

I did the text file thing so, it would be easy for people to automate the password stuff. It is a good idea to keep the file cleared out.
