Cosmetic request - Group Highliting

Hey Quade.

Would it be possible to bring back the highlight on the group after choosing to display the posts? Forgive me if I'm asking for something that was removed for a particular reason.

As I subscribe to a large number of groups and pull/read headers every morning it's easy to get lost in the group list as to which group is currently loaded. I use it in old-school mode so there's only one group loaded at a time and everything gets marked as read once I pick another group to load. If the group that's loaded was highlighted in a more obvious fashion then this would make it a lot easier to find the next group in sequence. It currently does highlight (in a barely noticeable grey) but in a way that is far too subtle for my poor old eyes.

I appreciate that the cosmetic things are usually done in the final pass before release so if I'm jumping the gun then please accept my apologies.

Cheers.

Just looking at this, it does highlight but, when the focus moves to the next tab, the highlight becomes dimmer and when you click on the tab again, you actually move the highlight.

When I click back and forth from posts to groups, I get a nice blue highlight. How do you have the split working? Is the groups tab always visible? I did notice if I select my post tab then click in the top border of the groups tab, where it says "Groups List" I get the solid blue selection again.

Thanks for the reply.

Yes I have the group list visible at all times - pretty much identical to how it is in the tutorial video about making v5/6 look like v4 which is the version I was raised on ;)

In 6.42 (and below), if I'm not mistaken, the blue highlight will stay constantly on the group even when switching focus to another window. The problem with the grey highlight, when switching to the posts window, is that it appears to be the same colour as one of the two tones used already so every other group looks like there's no highlight at all. I might not have explained that last sentence very well so if you need clarification I'll screen-grab it. As I always right click a group and then choose Show Posts this automatically steals focus to the Posts window and switches the highlight from blue to grey which subsequently hides which group is active. The only way to currently know which group I'm reading, and which is next in the group list to be read, is by looking at the Posts window header (tab title?) and manually finding that group followed by right clicking/Show Posts on the next group in the list, losing highlight etc. Rinse/repeat.

I just tested by clicking on the group list and the blue highlight does indeed stay on the active group so I will use that method in the betas but please consider keeping the blue highlight when switching focus to the posts window for the final release, much like it used to be. Of course, if it's a bunch of work, I'll just continue using your workaround just like you've suggested.

Cheers.
