RestartPauseTime appearing in Connections window?

I just uninstalled my last NewsBin and did a clean install of 6.50b7. And now I've got a bunch of RestartPauseTime entries in the Connections window. What's causing this and how do I fix it?

I'd look in the logging tab. It suggests your connections are failing so, Newsbin is waiting awhile before it connects again.

This happens when NB first loads as well - and the only items in the logging tab are:

HIGH PAR Pausing: Disabled
HIGH Par2Repair - Multi-core 1.4

And that's with "Show Server Commands" enabled.

I'm not hearing a real problem yet. Is it preventing you from downloading or is it a cosmetic thing you want changed?

A quick test shows that I can still download - but this is the first time I've seen this, so I don't know if this indicates that NB is misbehaving in some way, so I thought I'd report it.

If it's not a function issue, then it's cosmetic - in which case, if it can't be eliminated, it should at least be placed below the list of server connections, since it prevents me from seeing what the actual servers are doing at a glance.

I must not know what you're seeing then. I see nothing like that.

Here is what I now normally see with this beta:

And here's with the connection list scrolled partway down so you can see the top of the list of servers that used to be all that appeared in this panel:

As you can see, the connections panel is now useless to me as a glanceable information set.

Never seen anything like that on any of my systems. I wonder what causes it on yours?

No idea. I was previously using 6.4x, but I've never seen this at all through all the time I've been using NewsBin.

I uninstalled my old version completely, manually cleaned up what I could from the OS directories and registry, rebooted, then installed the new beta.

---
I don't know if this means anything or not, but I just looked at my nbi file, and the Servers section lists this:

[Servers]
RestartPauseTime=15
us-secure.newsdemon.com

So RestartPauseTime is actually listed as a server. Is this right?

If it means anything, after I installed newsbin, I deleted the default server (so temporarily, there were no servers configured) and created a new one with my actual info. I don't know if doing that contributed to this.

It suggests your configuration file is messed up and that some stray entries made it into the servers list. Might want to try editing it with wordpad and seeing if you can clean it up.

Should I just rename the parent folder and let newsbin recreate everything? (assuming that it's designed to do this)

Sure, If you don't mind losing your configuration. Otherwise you could just clean out the configuration file assuming it's not too messed up.

So here's what I've found. After I delete the configuration folder, I can start and shut down Newsbin as often as I want, and the problem doesn't occur.

But if I go into Options just once - even if I do nothing - click OK, then exit Newsbin - from that moment on, every time I start up Newsbin, the RestartPauseTime starts appearing in the Connections window.

Edit:

The line that's appearing in the [Servers] section is identical to the line appearing in the [Settings] section. I think there's a bug where this particular setting is being written to the wrong section in the nbi file when you hit OK in the Options window.

Update: That didn't happen the next time I went into the Options dialog and made changes. So maybe it only happens on the first time after a clean install.
