its Friday im exhausted from work, so forgive my ignorance quade. where in windows am I setting "those" controls? I attached a screen shot. the white is just overwhelming. It doesn't show through on the pic, but it is very bright on my screen and I tend to work in the dark a lot of the time so I was hoping with out altering my dimness on my screen, is there a way to fix newsbin. If the answer is no it cant be changed I can live with that. Im just asking what I can do to "dull" it down a bt

thanks for the input, that is whats different. I couldn't put my finger on it til you said something. I went back and installed it just to see the difference in brightness and it is considerable with out the alternating grey rows. I am hoping I can somehow get them back as an option

Pretty sure you can right click the desktop and select "Personalize" or "Properties". In XP it's easy. You click the "Appearence" tab then you can select a window element and set it to a specific color. I have my main window background set to a grayish color.

Win7 is like that too. Win8 is very hard. You're probably not using 8 so, I won't try to explain it.

background color has been and is solid black with "desktop" theme appearance color. not sure how this helps the white I see when I have newsbin full screen.

This is no biggie, I already went to power options and just backed off the brightness meter a bit so its much better now. thanks for your time on this..now get back to reddit
