Version 6.4.2 / 2146 Not always deleting files

Postby Bismark » Wed Mar 13, 2013 1:22 pm

Many times when I delete files from the file list tab using shift/DEL the files are removed from the file list, but are not getting deleted. I then have to go into windows file explorer and manually find the files I deleted if I can remember them and delete them. This is a major problem.

I often find a del.tmp file there which seems to be the file Newsbin uses to overwrite the disk. I am not concerned about overwrite and would be happy to turn it off.

Maybe you're exiting before it's done?

Most All of those files that did not get deleted happened while Newsbin was up. Most of them were pretty small. It just seems that once this problem happens, any more files deleted from the file list just don't get deleted. I just started happening in the past few weeks. I have been up to date on versions most of the time.

Hope this helps.

It happened again while Newsbin was up the whole time. It stopped deleting files, I found the del.tmp file, deleted it and Newsbin started deleting files again. It appears that sometimes it doesn't complete the overwriting of the deleted file and just stops deleting future files. Is there some way to have it not overwrite the files? I don't think I need that.

I'll check out. There's not much to the whole process so, I'm surprised it's causing you issues.

Sounds good. More information:

I had two very large files, 8 GB that I deleted with Newsbin in separate deletes. The first one got the name change and in a few minutes was gone, but then it never went after the second one, nor would it delete any more small files I deleted via NB. I deleted the second big one and the others via the windows file explorer and Newsbin started deleting files.

I wonder if you could add an option to move deleted files to the wastebasket the same way that .rar files go there? That would clearly by my preference as there are also times when I delete the wrong files and the ability to go to the wastebasket and restore them works. This would also significantly reduce the traffic on the disks.

Just a thought.
