Odd, doesn't happen for me. You are running the latest beta? Are you going through a web proxy or something? Wonder if a proxy is confusing Newsbin or something. Newsbin shouldn't be popping up the motd again unless the content changed . A proxy might be changing something in the headers that makes Newsbin think there is a new message. I suppose some Internet Security software might do this too if it is scanning web traffic and making changes to the headers.

Did you reboot your machine after disabling the security software? That is required before its really out of the way. The only thing I'm unsure about is the comodo firewall. I'd disable that, reboot your machine, and see what happens.

Only problem going back to 6.34 is you'll need to reconfigure your download path. The download path settings are not backward compatible.

wierd going back to 6.34 sorted it no MOTD popup(motd is switched on in options). Reinstalled latest beta and motd is popping up again.

There was a change to the timeout between 6.40 and 6.41 for checking the MOTD so it doesn't slow down Newsbin's loading. I wonder if you are on the edge of that timeout in terms of that initial connection to our server or something. How about doing a traceroute to
www.newsbin.com and see how long it takes. It could also be that some Internet Security software is delaying the initial connection just enough so Newsbin misses the timestamp. Is anyone else noticing this?

Yes, I know you are running Microsoft Essentials. Quade runs it too with no problems. I'm grasping at straws at this point. Only thing I can think of is you have a longer reach coming from Europe. Is anyone else seeing this with 6.41?

It's not that we don't know how to do it. I'm at a loss because you seem to be the only one having an issue with it.

They are slower than mine but I live 20 miles from the server. They are not slow enough to cause me concern. Unless someone else chimes in with the same problem to help us troubleshoot, we're kindof stuck right now. Nobody else is reporting this over tech support, irc, or on the forums.
