Header Download Problem

Postby mimauk » Thu Dec 06, 2012 10:43 am

Ver 6.41B3 Build 2108

I have 72 groups in my Groups Tab and over the last 24 hours or so there is a problem with one tv group when I update the headers.

Every group disappears from the Download list as soon as the headers are complete except for this one group which shows a count of about 0/118525424 - the number varies slightly - and just stays in the Download list with the number going to 0/0 and then back up to the larger number.

The log tab comes up with the same message which is repeated everytime the group resets to update -

[13:19:23] DEBUG - XOVER: alt.binaries.hdtv 2030155403:2030455403
[13:19:24] DEBUG - Download: Idle Connection Closed:easynews eu
[13:19:24] DEBUG - Download: Idle Connection Closed:easynews eu
[13:19:25] DEBUG - Download: Idle Connection Closed:easynews eu
[13:19:25] ERROR Socket - Error: WSARecv Socket Error Code: 10060 A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond.

[13:19:25] ERROR NNTPSocket - Server:news.eu.easynews.com NNTPServer: Compressed Headers - Timeout Waiting for Server to send Data: Socket - Read or Write Timeout
[13:19:25] ERROR NNTPSocket - Server:news.eu.easynews.com NNTPServer: Timeout - Waiting for Server to send Data: Socket - Read or Write Timeout
[13:19:25] ERROR Socket - Error: WSASend Socket Error Code: 10038 An operation was attempted on something that is not a socket.

I pull the headers from both the US and the EU servers so as to avoid any missing bits of the headers.

I've tried deleting the group and then re-subscribing and doing a ''download latest'' and I've also done a ''download all headers'' but the same error re-appears.

I've also tried downloading the headers for that group from a different Provider and there was no errors.

Yesterday the logging was showing a statement about numbers not tallying or something - I can't remember the exact wording - but that hasn't shown today.

It's just an annoyance more than anything as I just delete the header download from the Download List after a time when it seems nothing is going to happen.

Might want to contact easynews. What seems to be happening is that Newsbin sends a command to the server to retrieve headers, but the server takes so long to respond, the connection times out. The default for connection timeout is 2 minutes. I think they might simply be having a problem with this group.

fyi.

Easynews have acknowledged there is a problem with that particular group.

Same thing on newshosting, just one tv group stopped working. Tried almost everything, including wiping out all db3 files. Still nothing coming through for past few days.
