Does anyone know what these errors are?

I am at a loss as to what causes these. I can't find the other thread where I asked this question before. Thanks :)

Probably something interfering with communication with the server, or a server side problem. Context is useful - did this just happen once? Constantly? Can you download anything? Version you're using?

Reasons could be a temporary problem at the server side, an update to your antivirus might be blocking communication, a change to your networking setup, if you're running on wifi that can cause unreliable behaviour with something as network stressing as newsbin... There's a number of possibilities.

Using the latest B4. Everything downloads fine. Happens often.

I am using MS Security Essentials as my A/V.

Kinda lost as to what to do. I am connected via gigabit wired. I have 150 mbps FIOS service. I don't know what to do. Giganews is my provider.

Edit: Also I've excluded the data folder just now from MS SE A/V to see what effect that might have. Also the newsbin process. See what happens.

Back in the day, I might say it's your router crashing causing the NAT associations to go away but, these days the routers don't really seem to have this issue.

Usenet is a lockstep protocol.

Newsbin connection sand gets a greetings from the server but, that's the only thing the server says to me until I start sending commands.
Then every time Newsbin sends a command, the server replies with a response and data.

The error suggests that Newsbin sent a command and never got a reply back from the server. This could have numerous causes. At some level, as long as downloads continue properly, I'm not sure it's that big a deal. How many connections are you running? Even something like Wifi could cause this because Wifi isn't particularly reliable.

Yeah, I would agree that if everything downloads in a timely fashion, it might be worth ignoring. Of course if it bugs you there's nothing wrong with trying to track it down. If it's all that common I wouldn't do half measures and tweak configuration on the AV, I'd just turn the thing completely off and watch. SE is supposed to be one of the few better solutions in terms of being well behaved(most aren't, ever) but it might be worth a test.

Keep in mind this might be a temporary problem at giganews and you might be chasing your tail. Try a different server, euro instead of US, ssl or non ssl, just to throw some variables in there. And yup, keep your connection count lower to see if that matters.

Yeah I am using a wired connection. I am using the max connections my plan gives me which is 50. I'll try lowering them, shutting off my a/v and trying the Europe server.

Typically, there's no benefit to this and there are downsides. I'd try 10 and see if you still get max speed.
