Posts not always downloaded in order

Here's another problem that I've been seeing from time to time, not sure what's going on:

You can see here that the higher files are marked as "downloading" but not actively being downloaded. The lower files of the next group (r01) are the ones being downloaded. Pausing and resuming just returns it back to the same status without changing what's downloading.

Also note that I only have 6 concurrent connections enabled, but there are 9 files marked as "downloading"

I see a retry there. That means there was a problem with that post for some reason or another and it failed to get it, so it pauses and waits a bit before retrying it. In the meantime, instead of just sitting there, newsbin moves on to the next item.

It's not a problem, it's a feature.

No there are 3 groups being downloaded there. The top line (red with retry) is independent of the other 2. The second group [9 files, 1 pars] D:4 DL:6 Inc:0 P:0 R:0 you can see from the status has no retries. That's the group that randomly stopped downloading. It's also not a matter of a small delay, it will not continue downloading until there is nothing left to download. I waited 2 hours and it stayed that way, the only way I got it to finish was to pause everything else and then it continued immediately after the last other file downloaded.

Don't know then, never noticed that. You getting this constantly, no interesting messages in the logging tab? I think you'll find there's some sort of message indicating difficulties with getting some chunks, then newsbin went on to do others and got back to it eventually. Newsbin doesn't randomly decide to skip a post, there's always a reason. My guess is that it tried all the retries and failed, and is leaving it for you to deal with it. Later, the post was complete so it could finish.

[EDIT] I see you've posted an obviously related post elsewhere with more information. As quade suggested, your downloads.db3 may be pooched.

I'll wait for the queue to finish and try deleting the downloads.db3 and see if the problem persists at all.
