Issue with auto shutdown

The feature of shutting the program down is great, and shutting down the computer excellent, however I have encountered one small issue
"Exit Newsbin when the download list empties."
The problem is that sometimes, when selecting a large range of items for download, you get things you might not have wanted and teh list doesn't "Empty"
I have had a few occasions where, there have been a couple of 'par' downloads left in the list, thus preventing shutdown, I am assuming a failed download may also cause the same result.
Would it be possible to add an option to account for these circumstances, and maybe include an option to stop retrying after 'x' attempts, and ideally mark them as non blockers to a shutdown?
I would like to save energy but turning the system off, but so far not had much luck
