Download List Memory Hog and Hangs

I don't think my download list is that large (3GB) but while it is loading when I start up it shoots my memory usage into the 5GB range and after several hours still hasn't finished and there is no way to cancel it. I tried upgrading to the latest beta but it hasn't changed anything. Any ideas how to fix it or do I just wipe it out and start over?

Several *hours*? Obviously something is wrong, or you're on a computer not designed to handle such a load. Need more specifics - 3G is the size of the spool on disk, I take it. What are the specs of your system, are you doing anything else while this is running, etc. There's little point of wiping anything, I'm not really sure what you mean by that, but a spool load taking that long typical means a disk issue(which might simply mean very very slow), or you're trying to do too much at once and the disk is thrashing, either swapping out or in contention with another IO bound task.

I'm running 64bit Win 7 on a Pentium i7 2.93ghz quad-core with 6GB of DDR3 1866 memory and the data files are on 2 1TB drives in a RAID0 array. I would think it should be able to handle it. I had absolutely nothing else running - I wasn't even home. I expected to come home to it happily downloading but it was still just on the "load list" bar.

By wipe out I meant deleting the Downloads.db3 file. I renamed it for now and started with nothing in my load list.

Probably a damaged downloads.db3. Deleting it and starting fresh is probably the best idea.
