NZB Unable to open file to read Error

Postby Magoo32 » Sun Feb 12, 2012 11:57 pm

[20:49:30] HIGH - NZB Unable to open file to read : D:\Downloads\Loaded\*******************.nzb

Get this error msg quite often, but the nzb file actually loads into the download list and downloads, have had it happening for quite some time now.

Anyone know how to fix this?

Thanks

Odds are you're using your download folder as your nzb autoload folder. They should be different, partly to avoid this, but mostly to avoid a lot of unnecessary disk thrashing.

It's also possible this is because your browser is setting permissions funky and Newsbin had to copy the NZB to the temp folder in order to read it.

- Open to read
- Fail
- Copy to temp
- Open to read from temp.

Definitely a browser problem, Can download .nzbs automatically into the same directory with IE 9 and no read nzb error, Go back to Firefox 10.1 happens every time.

Not sure how to troubleshoot the Firefox problem though?

My question is "who cares". As long as it works, I wouldn't mess with it.

True Enough, could it be something along the lines of , Newsbin is open/running trying to autoload nzb's from that directory that have not completely finished downloading yet?

That was my first thought, yeah. The autopar management colliding with autoload. Trivial to check - just set the autoload somewhere else.

Not sure how autopar would collide the only thing that gets downloaded to that directory is nzb's and the occasional other files I downloaded from within the browser. Data goes to completley different drive. I was thinking it was trying to load incomplete/partially downloaded nzb files from the indexing site. I will sometimes rapidly download 10 in row with newsbin open.

OK, maybe I wasn't clear. Check your download directory in Options/Setup/Download Folder, then check your Options/NZB Files/Autoload NZB Path. If they're different, then forget everything I said, Quade's probably more on the right track. If they're the same, then I strongly recommend you use a different folder for nzb autodownload. That's it!
