Thanks.
I've tested with Newsbin running in an XP VM and growl running on Mac OSX. It works and wasn't complicated to set up. You just need the IP of the machine growl is running on and go through the registration process from within Newsbin in Options/Notification options. Only tricky part might be if you are running firewalls on your internal network.
So I'm running a Win7 VM in NAT mode. If I open up a CMD within the VM, I see the local IPv4 address as 192.168.30.128 with a gateway of 192.168.30.2 (which I assume the Mac OSX host)?
I configure the Mac OSX side to accept incoming stuff, give it a password.
I go to Newsbin and configure the Growl Server address (192.168.30.2) and also the growl password that I configred in the OSX side.
I click Growl Register and it returns "Unable to Register with Grown Server".
So several questions. If the 192.168.30.2 address correct or am I supposed to be using my actual IPv4 address that I'm deriving from DHCP for my outside machine? If that's the case, how do you configure it so it works all the time with DHCP? It'll be constantly changing for me.
You mentioned Firewall. Are you referring to the Win7 VM side that I need to do something or the OSX side?
Thanks!
PS - The issue with unRAR not cleaning up S0* files is present in Beta 4 too
