b5 d/l dropouts

Anybody else having frequent periods of d/l speed dropping to zero for dozens of minutes at a time, intermittently?
Newsbin 6.01 Beta 5

Giganews Support says logs say "exceeded max number of connections", but this has happened for days even after being offline overnight. Resetting my modem and router didn't help. Downloads with other applications (browser, bittorrent) are normal.

Is probably the key. What happens if you set you connections to 5-6. Does this go away?

no. Exit/restart of Newsbin does, however.
perhaps I need to try reverting to 6.0 on one of my computers.

How many instances of Newsbin do you run at once? It sounds like a couple. Each one of them eats into your connection limit.

I never run more than one instance of Newsbin at a time. Never more than once per machine, and never more than one machine at once.

Oh, and I forgot to mention that my Giganews account showed only the 6 connections I had Newsbin set to.

don't seem to be in agreement. I can tell you, I never have this problem with giga so, I expect it's something local.

the first statement was before I reduced my connections to 6.

Giganews says the logs aren't showing more connection issues, but my issue remains. And they wrote me that "I have seen a couple
people with the same issue as you with the new Newsbin. The older versions worked for them." so perhaps I will go back to 6.0 one machine as a test.

I'd try switching to 10 connections now and see what kind of speed you get. It's not really clear to me what's happening at this point.
